After a successful outcome on my first ever parking ticket, a second has arrived in quick succession!

The car was parked at Ruislip Lido where it seems the car park is split in two - one half is for a pub located on the lido and the other is for everyone else. You can park on the pub side if you go to the pub and put your reg number into the consoles inside. The lido side is pay and display. A ticket was purchased and displayed for the day, however, it seems the vehicle was parked on the pub side rather than the lido side.

It is one car park with payment machines along the lido side. I understand there is a sign on entry pointing out that one side is pub parking and the other is the council pay and display, as well as other signs on the pub car parking side. However, if you see the payment machines and purchase a ticket, I guess it doesn't occur to you that the ticket may only be valid in half the car park! There are no markings on the floor, for example, showing the distinction.

As the vehicle's keeper, I received a parking charge notice from Euro Car Parks. I used the template appeal letter from this site and have received a rejection and POPLA number.

I have the standard points to make at appeal from this very helpful forum and can put something together.

I would appreciate advice on whether to add anything about the fact the car park is split in two with different rules on the two sides.

Many thanks in advance guys - so appreciative of this forum!

Of course you should, make it sound as complicated and confusing as can be. Is there anything in the local papers/Facebook/TripAdviser about this? If not write bad stuff about the pub and the Lido therein.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

    http://parliamentlive.tv/event/index/2f0384f2-eba5-4fff-ab07-cf24b6a22918?in=12:49:41 recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

There is some stuff on tripadvisor about this. Seems many are being caught out. Will add detail to the 'inadequate signage' section. Many thanks!!
