    Hi,

    Does a passport countersigner have to have a valid passport? or can it be expired?

    If you are applying in the UK then the countersigner must have a valid British or Irish passport.

    If applying from outside the UK then they are required to have a current British, Irish or other EU, US or Commonwealth passport.

    The passport can be expired as long as itís one with the red cover
