What is the cause of the joint pain? Rheumatoid Arthritis, OsteoArthritis or something else? Is there any inflammation?

Frankincense has anti inflammatory effects so might be worth looking into. Boswellic acids are the active component so look for those.

Curcumin has poor bioavailability and any that is absorbed is quickly eliminated by the body. Black pepper (piperine) is often used to make it stay in the blood longer but I dislike the effect it can have because it can also reduce drug elimination meaning drug levels can rise. Black pepper can also cause bacteria to enter the blood stream from the digestive system which is my main concern.

Taking Curcumin/Turmeric with fat aids it's absorption therefore adding Turmeric to food which contains fat can be helpful. Curcumin in Turmeric is only about 3 to 5% so you will need quite a lot of it to have a similar effect to curcumin extract.

Liposomal Curcumin is meant to have greater effects and fairly good bioavailability. Therefore see if you can find some of that or make your own. Curcumin can be purchased in powder form from numerous sources including eBay such PowerMySelf shop which I have purchased from on a number of occasions. They do sell Curcumin capsules but they contain no piperine.

Amazon sell liposomal curcumin. Lipolife make a liposomal curcumin which is sold on amazon but it is quite expensive 40.

There are many herbal anti inflammatories so you might look for something which is appropriate and has some published research studies supporting it.

I've not taken Tumeric for pain relief with my joints (diagnosed osteoarthritis a few years ago) but I have taken it as a cold remedy. I didn't notice any relief in my joints when I did take it but my issue is overuse of joints and impact (running and etc) rather than it being weight baring related.

I forgot to include the link that I found about curcumin and boswellic acids. The research is about osteoarthritis so might not be applicable. You did not provide a lot of info about the cause.

Have a look at Golden Paste- turmeric. oil and pepper.

Many people reporting relief on the facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/415313751866609/?ref=bookmarks

    or the website https://www.turmericlife.com.au/blogs/recipes/turmeric-recipes-golden-paste

The group was set up by an Australian vet who has done much research into using turmeric as an anti inflammatory for both humans and animals.

Curcumin is only one of the many components in turmeric.

Making Golden Paste is cheap and easy and more effective then curcumin alone
