Hot water not switching off! 11th Jul 18 at 12:54 PM
We've got a vented system with a hot water tank which is heated from both a conventional gas boiler and an immersion top up. It was running fine until yesterday - gas is controlled by a Nest system, and the immersion by a myenergi diverter from solar panels.

The hot water is only set to heat via the boiler for half an hour each morning. Last night though I realised that there was a noise in the airing cupboard from the water heating (a small pump maybe?) and the boiler was firing every few minutes during the night to maintain the hot water at the specified 60 degrees.

The hot water was set to OFF on the Nest system (and we have disabled the Bacteria Prevention mode). The central heating was off. I also tried switching off the immersion but that did nothing.

I have no idea why the system is heating the water. It's been running fine for months.....
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

You probably have a zone/diverter valve seized and keeping the boiler on.

    Thanks Alex

Yup, it seems you were right. I've been messing about in the airing cupboard this evening, and have finally got it switched off. One of the diverter/actuator switches is very iffy.

Next step I've got to figure out if it is the switch or the valve.
