Old Style Daily Tuesday 10th July 2018 10th Jul 18 at 2:40 AM
This is an ďover the garden fenceĒ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. Itís a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things weíre going to do today or what weíve achieved already. Everyoneís welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasnít just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please donít post large pictures, or clip art Ė links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that donít have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning everyone

I did take the sandals back to the shop yesterday afternoon in the end. I wasnít sure whether or not I could or should do this. When I got there I walked around for a long while thinking about it. When I eventually went in and asked, it turned out the person who I was speaking to was the manageress and she was more than happy to refund my card back for the original cost and re-charge me at the sale price. She said that people coming in doing the same thing is very common when a sale starts. She said that she had done exactly the same thing in M&S at the weekend.

I had forgotten that I was going with my neighbour to her chiropodist appointment yesterday, so that through me out a bit. We went into town for our usual coffee after her appointment, and she bought me a lovely slice of coffee and walnut cake .

The kitchen finally got its good clean yesterday evening as it was a bit cooler, and today I plan to go through the rest of the house and get up to date.

As the temperature has dropped a bit I think I will have something different for dinner this evening, and make a fish pie.

RosyRed Iím so sorry to hear about your friend, I hope that treatment goes well for her. It would be good if the garden problem could be resolved before it gets to court. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

    Thinking of you LameWolf.

Gers Iím gladthat there has been some improvement in your mumís condition.

The saga with Mr TAís meds just seems to go on for you TA, this is all added stress that you donít need.

Camelot It sounds like you had a good time with your grandchildren, it sounds quite tiring though.

Meanmarie it sounds like you had a lovely relaxing holiday in Sardinia, I hope that you enjoyed yourself.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning HOLLY and fellow non-sleepers. I have been awake since 2.00 worrying worse than ever. I know it won't help or change anything but I can't help it. I'll be neither use nor ornament when I get up. I got fed up of tossing and turning and de-camped to one of the DGD's beds.I have been trying to read but find myself reading the same page over and over.

I thought I had done my share of caring after 12 years of hell looking after my mother who suffered from Parkinsons and dementia. But here we go again and I worry how I will cope as Mr TA is getting progressively worse day by day and I am not getting any younger.

I am sorry for moaning but life is getting on top of me. I will bounce back I'm sure but, just now, I feel at a very low ebb. Everything seems worse in the early hours when all is quiet.

I'll try and do a bit of reading again now. Have a good day folks and take care. ((HUGS)) to all those in need/want of them xx

    Morning

TA if anyone on here has a right to have a moan its you hun and its also a rare event. I know if I was going throughwhat you are then there would be far more moaning. Hope today is a better day for you

Holly good result on the sandals I'm afraid it confused my small brain why some people were saying they wouldn't. Surely this is a money saving board.

Gers so glad there is improvement with your mum. Grumping about Boris is a clear sign of getting better

Rosy red sorry to hear about your friend sure she will be glad to have you as a friend as things get difficult

Of to work soon which after quite some time I am a little nervous about. Going in well early as I haven't been to this site and I will need to find parking. Its a leadership programme which is normally really fun and interactive but today I have one delegate so I can only hope they are a laugh poor thing will not be expecting to be on their own either. Not very happy they ran it with one but their policy is never to cancel...hey ho maybe it will be a nice and relaxed coaching situation.

Right im off have a good day if you can everyone

    Disappearing post day again.

I'm not going to type it all out again.

TA you must be so worried and I hope this is a safe space for you to express that.

Gers, hope your mum continues to improve.

    Rosyred, thinking of your friend.

    LW, thinking if you.

Had a long chat with my mum yesterday, much of it was her complaining about the heat and most of the rest about her holiday, I do hope she enjoys it as much as she expects to. She has always enjoyed frequent holidays but hasn't been able to go in the past few years as her late husband was not well enough.

I haven't any specific plans today, I do have lots to do but not interesting things so I'll not bore you to bits with those.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning

I'm glad your date went well Speky x

The heat got to me yesterday morning, I woke up feeling awful. I took Scampi out anyway, if I don't go early he doesn't get a decent walk that day, it's just too hot. I shouldn't have bothered, he spent the whole time looking at me, I'm sure he knew I wasn't feeling well, and protected me by warning anyone/anything that got close. While I appreciate the sentiment, I don't appreciate his method

We pulled some onions up last night, they're a bit smaller than I'd like but look great. I'll be plaiting them today, they store better that way and look fab hanging on the kitchen wall There's some garlic too but I don't think they'll plait well, the stalks are very thick and the bulbs will be lost in the twists and turns, lol.

It's cloudy and cool this morning, such a relief. The shopping is coming later, I've cleaned the fridge and wiped the cupboard shelves while they're at their emptiest. Not sure what to do once the food has been put away and plaited. I hope it stays cool Ė or at least doesn't get too hot - so Scampi can spend some time in the garden, he's usually a busy boy and has been bored staying indoors for most of the day.

Good morning everyone, it's fine and sunny here, but definitely cooler. It's an improvement on yesterday which was grey all day. Thanks Holly for starting.

TA, I'm sorry you're feeling so low. Things do seem much worse in the small hours, and it's no good people telling you not to worry, you can't change anything and so on, you just can't help it.
The night seems never ending, then as you say, you're fit for nothing the next day. it's an awful situation for you and Mr TA. Sorry not to be able to offer anything positive. Thinking of you, though I know that's not a lot of good.

Glad your Mum is a bit better Gers

Thoughts to Lame Wolf, and Mr LW.

Bella bella, hope you feel better soon.

Hope you manage ok today Nelski.

Rosy I am sorry to hear about your friend I do hope her recovery goes well xx

Specky im glad the date went well but she does sound very keen !!

Nelski I suppose its all down to personal opinion, I just would not feel comfortable doing that at all and money saving site or not it just would not feel right to me, but each to their own

TA I wish there was something I could go do help you, I am sending love and hugs tot he both of you xx

    Have good days all xx

Need to decide on what I need to buy to replace sky tv, freesat, freeview, smart tv no idea and have thought about a new phone or tablet so I can use apps. When I go into the shop I don't seem to understand anything they say after good morning

    Morning All

We've had rain!! I woke up about 7 to the sound of rain outside but it's stopped now, hardly enough to wet the ground. We were forecast drizzle for yesterday but there wasn't a cloud in the sky all day.

I picked another two courgettes yesterday, I fear there may be a glut very soon, I've been looking up how to make chutney with them. I think it may be the same with cucumbers in a week or so, they grow so quickly!

I have ironing to do this morning and a haircut this afternoon, hardly a taxing day.

TA, I wish I could do more to help than send love and support.
Gers - Hopefully your DM will be well enough to come home very soon.
Glad your date went well Speky.
Hope you feel better soon bella.
Back at work already Nelski? Good luck.
    Thinking of you LW.

Right, the ironing is calling while it's cool. Take care. XX

Could you look at copies of "Which" at a library to get information on tvs, freeview etc? It might give you some broad guidelines.

Looks like a much cooler morning and the sun is just coming out from the clouds. DD is coming over for a baking session so will nip out to the local shop for a few ingredients I need to bake savoury muffins.

    TA
Please don't worry about sharing your feelings. You need a safe space to let things out without feeling you are worrying family. I wish I could do something to help rather than sending a hug.

Thinking of LW and sending positive vibes and crossed fingers.

    HollyHarvey

I would have been dithering about returning the sandals and just assumed that I could not do anything. You were honest and explained what you were asking and why so I would not think you have done anything unethical.

    Hugs to all..

    Good morning all,

Firstly, Judi - yes I probably am living life a little bit dangerously, so I promise to approach with extreme caution.

I've officially got the cold, from a (different) colleague, which meant no football last night and the gym this morning wasn't very productive. Tonight, should the weather allow, I'll do some gardening at my mums for a bit. Chilli for dinner.

    The girl from work phoned me last night with work related things. Once the work chat finished, the conversation went on to the dinner I was making and she wants to take me to a pizza place next week. Few things;

    1. She's keen (we already know this). Perhaps too keen.
    2. Isn't it the man's job to take the other person out?
    3. If the above is true, I can't afford it!!

Anyway, I'm away for a coffee.

TA - It can't be easy and you've done an amazing job thus far. You should be really proud of yourself and yes, the road ahead will be tough, but with you by his side it'll be that bit easier and pleasant. We're here if you need us.
RR - I often think about you and others who work in kitchens when the heat is like this. I done the same in my university days and it was really difficult and uncomfortable. Hope it's not too bad today.
Camelot - I too have had rain. Although I cleaned the car the other day, so not too pleased!

Rain, what's that? We had some drizzle yesterday, but it didn't develop into anything.

The garden is just dust, I suppose everyone's garden is.

Good morning chums a slightly cooler fresher day at the moment thank goodness.Well done on the sandles H/Harvey.That extra £!7.00 will give you a nice day out at the coast a great result.

MrsTA the night time is always the time when you worry the most Can you down load a jigsaw onto a lap-top or computer.I have two free jigsaw sites on my lap-top and they are great for taking your mind off worries and thoughts .I also listen to Steve Allen on LBC 4.a.m.-7a.m. very amusing man to listen to during the night I have him on my laptop whilst doing my jigsaws, I know it sounds odd but it really does take your mind off of things when you can't sleep the past few nights because of the heat I wake at unearthly times of the morning and its far too early to get up so I will sit up in bed with my lap-top and Steve Allen for company and potter around doing a jigsaw.

Speky glad you enjoyed your date, you sound like a very nice young man and far too nice to be sitting alone at night

Gers fingers crossed your DM can be sprung from the hospital asap

Nelski take it slow and sensible if you are going back to work ,with lots of breaks, as we don't want you to put back your recovery

silver-oldie if you have a DGc or a young person around the 18-25 age range in your circle ,even if they belong to a friend take them with you to translate the gobble de gook that the sales folk blind you with I usually take my son-in-law as he is quite techy or one of my grandsons as most yousters over the age of about 14 are pretty good at the different things that are talked aboutI still don't use the HD on my TV as I can't see the difference, and basically is doesn't to me make the programmes any better, rubbish TV is still rubbish TV no matter how crystal clear the picture

bellabella I hope you will soon feel better , it always seems worse feeling ill when the sun is shining.

U3A coffee morning this morning at Dobbies which I always enjoy Last week i got a pot of tea for a change with my freebie and topped the pot up and ended up with four cuppa's kept me going whilst nattering.

DGS Jack brought his new you lady round to DDs for dinner last night and I met her before I came home and she seems very nice and pleasant, and is also very pretty. Jackis being very sensible as I had a quiet chat to him and said 'she knows you are off in September to Uni doesn't she' and he said 'yes no problems Gran, we are just having some fun, and I told her that I shall be away so we are just enjoying ourselve with nothing heavy or serious .He is a sensible young man and wouldn't lead her on I don't think. They enjoy each others company and laugh a lot so nothing to serious at all thank goodness. I don't want either of them to be hurt

H/Hester what on earth bit you ,it wasn't a tick was it as they can be nasty little blighters at the moment and really do burrow in.

right time for some more tea I think I swear I have yorkshire tea in my veins and not blood at the moment.

Have a good day chums and ,,hugs .. to those who could do with one

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Extra hugs to those of you with worries.

Silver Oldie....get yourself a free stat box, it works through your Sky ariel, I bought one years ago and its saved me a fortune. You can find details on their website..

Holly, I would not have dreamed of taking the sandals back, this may be a money saving site, but afraid I am not that cheeky. I would have waited for the sales anyway before buying the sandals.

So glad we have cloud this morning, it was so refreshing having a cool breeze blowing through the house yesterday, looking forward to more of the same over the next few days. OH says its 6 weeks since we had rain of any description and it was only a light shower then.

Gers...sorry to hear your Mum is not making the progress they had hoped she would. I am sure they will sort her out, sounds as if the medication is not doing its job.

No plans for the day, the heat wipes me out so I need a couple of days to recharge. I might just do some ironing, I want to set some more of the pieces for the baby quilt. I have a couple of things to iron from yesterday.

OH has requested sausage and mash tonight........we did not have a dessert last night, think he plans to pick more rasps today.
