It's the bit that looks like a template.

Must have pressed something accidentally. I know I've done it before but can't remember how to get rid of it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Get what off your screen?

    Please be specific.

It looks like a template which covers about half the screen but there's a clear space in the middle. I'm sorry I don't really know what it is.

Looks like you accidentally set a photo as your desktop background. Go to display settings and remove it.

I don't know if it's a monitor thing or computer thing, I've just got a new computer and don't want to use it until I've sorted this out. Didn't get a new monitor.

    Its a computer thing , 100%

It is being caused by a program that you have running in the background ..

I guess we could talk you through inspecting task manager, and scrutinising the system tray until we find which one it is - but what is the point if you are not going to use it any more !!

OK thank you, it probably will be used again upstairs in my craftroom. Think I'll have to put up with it, I know it happened before and managed to sort it out with help from here I think.

I'm going to have to get another monitor for up there.
