I'm new to here and I am struggling to find a house to buy in the area as there are none up for sale. I have decided to letter drop all the 3/4 beds in our are I have printed 200 leaflets so far. Has anybody had success recently doing this I am in Scotland if that makes any difference

Hopefully you did them all bespoke with an offer price, otherwise I think they will be mostly binned.

If your leaflet looks as though it was done by a private individual (maybe with a small bio but not too detailed), then I'd be inclined to keep it. Who knows, I may want to sell, or even know someone else who does.
A professional-looking leaflet would shout out 'we are a big company and want to buy your house for next to nothing'.

The are small letters with a bit about us and our financial situation mostly printed in blue ink till I ran out of it. When we first listed our house the estate agent had been to value a 4 bed near us and we really had our hopes on it. However something came up and they were going to wait a few months before listing so I'm kind of hoping to catch whoever was wanting to sell and buy from them privately. I will let yous know how I get on.

I think it!!!8217;s a nice idea, but bare in mind the amount of junk mail people get. To stand out from junk, perhaps hand write the letter and photocopy it since you have over 200 of them. Or put them into a colored envelope or card (Card Factory does 12 cards for 1)
I actually hand wrote about 40 on art postcards a couple of months ago as we had our eye on a particular road, I never actually posted them though as we found a house in the meantime.

    Best of luck!

Also, from a seller's perspective you appear keen and proactive, and want the 'personal' approach. That's a really good thing in this day and age. Makes you stand out as approachable and friendly.

Wishing you all the best in your search.

We sold our last house (completed early February) to a couple that dropped a letter in our door.

They had wanted to buy our house when we bought it in 2014 but weren't in a position to back then. Ours was the only one they were interested in - one off period house - and the only property they'd viewed since buying their existing place seventeen years ago.

Their letter explained all of this as well as saying a bit about their family situation - sons at school locally etc.......

We had previously had the house up for auction, so the sale went through our EA and wasn't done privately......
Paid off mortgage early - mortgage-free for ten years!
