Which do you prefer as a fastener?
Does it depend on the item or garment?

For example, I never could comfortably wear 'slip-on' shoes as I find them painful due to a high instep, so I invariably buy laced shoes. For trousers, I like buttoned flies although zipped ones are quicker if you're in a hurry ..

What do you generally prefer, allowing for the odd exception?

I'd rather be eccentric than egocentric

Memo to self: never go to outback.
If you do, don't go into a dunny.
If you do, make a clackery person go in first, to 'capture' the redback in his shorts.
Then it's safe to go in, while the clackery person is running away screaming.

I voted "other" because I missed the option for "elastic" - senility is obviously setting in!

In fact if I cracked the 'velcro' joke over there, they'd probably dismiss it as the rantings of a velcro loving trot..

Poll needed to be multiple choice

Shoes are mostly laces but I have one pair bought in Texas that are Velcro and I love them, I also have a few pairs of Velcro fastening trainers bought in Walmart that I still use although the Velcro is getting old and won't stick for long
My slippers are also Velcro so that I can fasten them really tight if I will be wearing them all day or keep loose if they will be on & off all day.

Trousers - prefer zips to buttons
Jacket - I like zips and snap buttons
Cardigans - prefer buttons but will wear one with a zip

The trouble with DT is there are too many extreme opinions, and not enough lovely, tolerant, middle-of-the-road, liberal fence-sitters.
No wonder I find it a lonely place.

Zips in shorts as if I am taking a quick wazz in the outback in a dark dunny I want to give the redback as little time as possible to scuttle up me leg and bite me on the clackers
