Slimming For Summer - Slimming World Support Thread 2018 1st Jul 18 at 9:19 PM
Shiny new thread, with all the info carried over as follows:-

Slimming World and Food Optimising is a plan for life, it's not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you've been doing in the past hasn't got you to where you want to be.

You can't use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.

Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you!!!8230;!!!8230;!!!8230;go for it!

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Most of the food you eat should come from the free foods list !!!8211; so that!!!8217;s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables.

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Speed Foods!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra !!!8216;a!!!8217; choice and one Healthy Extra !!!8216;b!!!8217; choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread, nuts and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

    -------------------------------------------------------------

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Speed Foods to half of your plate
B: switch to more Speed Foods

    or

C: try Extra Easy SP - details are on this link - https://www.minimins.com/threads/extra-easy-sp-plan.348340/

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments.

Link to the List of Healthy Extras as at April 14

Hi all, tried to pop in yesterday to post a 1/2 lb gain but the internet crashed and I lost the post, so here it is. Perfectly acceptable as I have certainly been allowing a few treats to creep in, even though meals have been on plan.

Now, let's talk about last night. I watched the match and had two rhubarb gins with sugar free ginger beer. Then went to Turtle Bay for tea and had some sort of jerk chicken with coconut rice, and fried halloumi. The cocktails were two for one so naturally we got four each. Then went to a comedy night and had a bottle of cider (small one, not a two litre white lightning!) and half a bottle of prosecco. We came out of there and the cocktail offer was still on as England had won, so we had another one each, then stopped off somewhere else and had a vodka lime and soda. THEN we found an open McDonald's and I had a double cheeseburger and large fries, and I think this possibly saved my life as I'm not hungover as such this morning just far too hot to function.

Plan for today is just not to fall headfirst into a large bag of crisps.

Sounds like a good night Tete! and great not being hungover this morning.

Really hot again today and just don't want to do anything. A fairly easy day for me today as DH is BBQing at lunchtime when our DD2, partner & kids come down and then this evening he'll be spit roasting a chicken on the BBQ!

    So today's plan:

    B - fry up
L - burgers & onions in roll - I'll have mine in WM and the others white burger buns. My DD will bring her own as she's gluten free. I've made sugar free jelly for pud if anyone wants/needs something
D - spit roasted chicken, roast potatoes & roasted veg; cabbage

    HEA - milk
    HEB - WM roll
Syns - jelly 0.5; not sure what else

well done to poohsticks, msm, gts and never too old on your losses!

Welcome! Chris will add you to the list when she comes on. How long ago did you do SW? If it's fairly recent then you've probably got the latest books. There are a number of people on here that use the thread as their group. Just ask any questions you like.

When I joined missteach, I just conjured a weight I'd been happy with previously out of the air for my target but my main goal was to be back to a size 12. I'm 5 foot 9 so any lower and I start to get a bit scrawny.

Fortunately the food at my conference today was a buffet with hot or cold options. Other than some oil/butter used in cooking I made good SW choices so not many syns to add.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB Weetabix with HEA milk
L: chicken, new potatoes, tenderstem, courgettes. Melon and pineapple pieces.
D: Aldi Lamb Rogan Josh with xtra mushrooms, HM pilau, SW chips.
Syns: oil? curry 1.5, wine syns.

Thanks everyone! I did SW a couple of years ago... 2016? Not sure if my books are up to date or not? My Food Optimising book is mainly black with bowls of what looks like goulash or curry with rice on!
I like going to group I feel it keeps me accountable, and I like having access to the online features such as being able to search for a certain item of food and it'll tell you the syns... I work night shifts though so I need to find one that's local on the days/times I can do!

Well done on your loss tweets. You're so good at maintaining. That was very disciplined of you to just have a plate of salad at the party too bubbs. I admire you both for your will power.

    Afternoon all.

Well done all the losers, welcome Newbies, keep it up everyone! This weeks weigh in shows me maintaining still.

I'm away for a few days next week so have stocked up today with SW friendly foods to minimise temptations but there will be a few meals out. We've had some odd meals this week to use up stuff in the house but pretty healthy on the whole. It's rare to plan a UK summer holiday and not be taking winter weather gear! No rain forecast but a bit cooler which will suit us fine.

Missteach/B] I set my original target at a reasonable weight that I'd been some years ago, as I thought I could at least get to that, then revised it down so I was within the healthy BMI range for my height. I'm a bit below that now but don't want to go any further - at 50 something, I'm frightened of my face falling in! Your loss is amazing and clothes sizing these days isn't really a good measure of where you're at. I bought some items in the sale at Next yesterday - 1 size 14, 2 size 12s and a 10 - all fit nicely. My first 'adult' clothing was a size 10, at age 11!

Tete I have (rather vague) memories of the cocktail deal at Turtle Bay - sounds like a great night!

You've done well, gtq, p00hsticks, Msm, gts, TIE, tweets and beanie. That's brilliant, never too old (not in future).

    Loving this weather!

I picked Belgium to win the tournament way back before it began and I'm sticking to that, but I have to say I think England is in with a shout. BTW I did not see Saturday's game as I was at a much more important one - Falkirk v Airdrie pre-season friendly (3-2 win for Bairns).

    Hi, B17c.

Off on hols tomorrow, seems like it's been a long time coming and I'll be home before I know it! Be good, folks, however you want to define that!

Hope your win yesterday was a good omen for the season. I heard a conversation on the radio earlier between a Scot and a Welshman. The gist was that England have punched above their weight and got a bit lucky with coming second in the group as they've had an easier run in. As DH is English I'll be pleased if they go further but I'd love Belgium to win. I just love Roberto as he's an honorary Swansea Jack! And he has a Scottish wife!

    Have a great holiday.

    P.S. Roast was yummy!

Have had the most manic few weeks- been off and on plan, not managed to get to group for two weeks- oops going back this Wednesday though. Last couple of times I weighed in I gained- just kept losing heart. My new job makes it so difficult to stay on plan- I try to be good but then there was the Krispy Kreme for someones birthday... then we got free ice creams... or just the fact I have been so stressed recently and I cope with it by eating- not good stuff either! Have had a reasonably good week this week and the scales are looking favourable so here is hoping I get a loss of some description. I put so much on I was nudging 17 stone and that was definitely not good- back down to not far over 16 now which is close to my target (for now) so I am happier with that. When my dissertation is over I can concentrate 100 percent again.
    Todays menu:

T: Spanish chicken stew, squaffles and salad. Tube of Smarties (9) and Light and Free yoghurt, water
    S: Crisps (6.5)
Syns: 19.5 (gone back up to 20 since I went so far over 16 stone)

Hope everyones had a nice weekend. Big week ahead what with the football. Although I'm fairly confident I'll finally get my 5st award (been 0.5lb off for weeks now), I will openly state in group that it's off until the World Cup is over. I will be eating rubbish and drinking loads Wednesday and Sunday. Guaranteed

Once that's done, I'll finally smash it and hopefully get to target within the next 2 months or so.
