Slimming For Summer - Slimming World Support Thread 2018 1st Jul 18 at 9:19 PM
Shiny new thread, with all the info carried over as follows:-

Slimming World and Food Optimising is a plan for life, it's not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you've been doing in the past hasn't got you to where you want to be.

You can't use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.

Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you!!!8230;!!!8230;!!!8230;go for it!

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Most of the food you eat should come from the free foods list !!!8211; so that!!!8217;s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables.

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Speed Foods!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra !!!8216;a!!!8217; choice and one Healthy Extra !!!8216;b!!!8217; choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread, nuts and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

    -------------------------------------------------------------

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Speed Foods to half of your plate
B: switch to more Speed Foods

    or

C: try Extra Easy SP - details are on this link - https://www.minimins.com/threads/extra-easy-sp-plan.348340/

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments.

Link to the List of Healthy Extras as at April 14

Can you use something you already have to cut round? This should help.

Really annoyed with myself as last week I had a clear out of all my old patterns because I don't really wear dresses and skirts very often so only kept a couple of dress patterns and only one skirt pattern! The only reason I kept that one was because there were a couple of trouser patterns as well and was intending to have a go at some trousers this winter - once all the main travelling is over!

Have just folded the material up and put away again - but at least I didn't have to put up with the World Cup, although I did see some of the extra time.

It's WI for me this morning and hoping I've done enough to have lost at least a lb to give me a bit of leeway over the 2 week holiday (currently only 1/2lb inside top end!).

Back later with results and my menu plan.

Maman the only crafting I do in the motorhome, and not very often is a bit of crochet. I'm planning on doing some poppies this holiday as our big town is planning a display of poppies, both knitted and crocheted around the town. So will see how many I can get done before the deadline of mid October. Probably not very many because I've only recently started crocheting again so am quite slow and I've got 6 weeks of holidays between now and then.

Can I just say I did not watch the game tonight despite no dress tokens coming my way.

Obviously the curse of the game being on ITV was greater than my lucky knickers could overcome.

    I did however bag this

for the wedding of a son of very good friends next year....yes I know it's early but got it for less than 20 so am very pleased with that.

Morning everyone! I have a couple of products I was wondering if someone could tell me the syns in please, if no one minds?
    It's:
    Asda frozen breaded/battered onion rings
    essential Waitrose chocolate mousse
    Newman's Own balsamic dressing

Would be very much appreciated! I'm going to join a group near me on Saturday morning and will get new books I think, start fresh... I am also hoping to join a gym near work too, I just cancelled my gym membership elsewhere as it's far too expensive but this one is about 15 a month, I can budget for that!

Weigh in tonight. Really worried but not got reason to, probably just hoping that it a decent loss, although any loss is a loss.

Suggestions for Saturday please. I will be helping at a fundraiser for the day, it is going to be an Italian evening so the day spent helping to prep the food, lay tables & then dish up & wash up afterwards. Need to be there 11:30-12:00, but have a regular charity meeting at 10:00, so trying to plan how to eat. Was initially thinking about having a late cooked breakfast, but that is too tight time wise.

Current thought process is fruit & yoghurt before meeting, then go straight to venue, going to bake egg muffins tomorrow evening, so take some with me, with some salad which I could have late lunch. I know we will all be eating before the event, but much as I would love to eat whatever delightful Italian food is on offer, the syns will be horrendous. Was thinking I may be better off to graze for the day on free food, but would appreciate your thoughts please?

A big protein packed breakfast would be a good start to the day, and your plan of egg muffins and salad for lunch is a good one.
Italian doesn't have to be too bad. Pasta with a tomato based sauce is okay, just avoid anything creamy or cheesy, and the pizza and garlic bread.

Sorry to hear that kathrynha. Is this mostly triggered by the hot weather?

Have you thought about posting on the sewing thread on the OS board denise? Someone on there might have a suggestion or advice on where to get a free pattern.

Today's going to be a good day. I'm visiting a friend later and plan to call into Home Bargains as passing on the way back. If they have noodles then I'll have them with dinner but otherwise it'll be rice. Hopefully I can get some jars of pickled cabbage too. I get through loads of pickles.

I had a bit of luck yesterday at our little Co-op. Although most things are ridiculously over priced, they do sell BoB milk 30p cheaper than Sainsbury's. I always take a look at the YS shelf although sometimes even that's far more expensive than Aldi. yesterday was good: courgettes, kale and a bag of stir fry veg all for 42p! They had French beans too but I'm not a big fan unless fried in butter and garlic.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB Weetabix with HEA milk
    L: veggie omelette with pickles
D: chicken stir fry with noodles/rice?
    Syns: honey in sauce 2.5

Yep the weather is the main cause, although I had hoped to avoid hospital now it's cooled down. Think my body needs to catch up with the change of weather.

Would you like French beans fried in a mixture or the butter and garlic frylights Maman? I use them when cooking mushrooms, and it really makes them taste nice.

We're off to Fort William tonight .....it's our anniversary on Saturday and last year having climbed Snowden I joking said next year let's climb Ben Nevis ....so guess how I'm spending the day lol. Should be good for BM if nothing else

Food wise I'm going to have to wing it but will try & stay on plan.

That's a different way to spend your anniversary GTS. Definitely lots of body magic.
Make sure you eat plenty though. One of my friends really struggles to keep on plan when she goes seriously hiking and has had a few funny turns, fixed by a chocolate bar. Make sure you have plenty of protein and carbs.

And yes definitely cooler here today. Back down to more pleasant temperatures

Good idea about the flavoured oils kathrynha. Thank You.

That wouldn't be my idea of how to spend my anniversary gts but each to his own. DH loves to boast how he took me for dinner and a show last year.

Then he explains it was a Punch and Judy show and fish and chips on the quay in Weymouth!

Hope you manage to eat fairly SW friendly tomorrow. You could take fruit and Alpen lights or whatever for the walk but if you're eating out the choices aren't great often. Body Magic will be good though!

Ah thanks..yes I know it's not the most conventional way of spending the day but I'll be so proud to say I've done it - and that's one thing that losing this weight has given me - the ability & fitness to do at least try these madcap sorts of things lol.

Strangely you should say about the fish & chips maman, one of the most rememberable weekends we've was when we were students (many many moons ago) and spent it down west wales in a two man tent ...& eating a bag of chips in the moonlight, looking out over one of the harbours....ah such simple times lol.

As for food tonight & tomorrow will be relatively good but after the climb on Saturday any thing that I fancy will be consumed - though after all that exercise I'll probably just be ready to sleep!

Thanks Maman for the suggestion of posting on the Sewing Thread - I already do from time to time. Not planning on doing anything with the material at the moment - it can wait until we come back from our next month long holiday! Would like to try and do something with it before our winter holiday in Goa (January 19).

WI went well and I lost 1lb so have 1.5lb leeway for this coming 2 week holiday so will have to be good, at least for the 2nd week as will only have a couple of days back at home before my next WI at the beginning of August!

Sorry to hear you were hospitalised again Kathryn but hopefully you're feeling better now.

GTS = that's certainly a different way to spend your anniversary! I think with that amount of BM you definitely should indulge in whatever you fancy!

    Today's plan:

    B - fruit - after WI
L - ham salad; 1 slice WM bread (large loaf weighed just under 60g!)
D - slow cooked beef ribs; corn on the cob; boiled potatoes; salad

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - butter 2; ribs 7? Not sure it'll be that many as it's quite a small one and a similar thing is listed as 7 for 500g pack so possibly only 3.5 but will call it 7 to be on the safe side.
