Love the 1000 idea, so giving it a go!! (Sorry for the stolen idea) 25th Jun 18 at 6:41 PM
So I've seen a thread on here with the 1000 parcel idea-I love it! So I'm jumping on it. I've started a new thread for myself to keep track and help me focus and use every penny wisely.

So I do now have (as of last month) have my first ever 1000 emergency fund!!! Eeekkkk!

However, i need at least 6 months wages behind me for comfort to begin with.

Today 25/6/18- I'm starting my first 1000 parcel, which I link to my bank savers, which I've just transferred 5.98-it's a start ha ha. Only 994.02 to go ;-)

I'm going to keep my overtime seperate and throw it into this parcel, as I've been relying on it to pay my debt off-I'm now debt free!

I'm aware overtime isn't always available, so I need to keep that in mind. I also have a second job and I will stop using that money as 'my wage' and throw that at the parcel. I get paid tomorrow from 2nd job, so whatever I get paid will be applied into the parcel.

I give myself weekly 'spends' so if I have any money left each week, I will put into the parcel

7/7/18. Added some more to my first 1000 parcel. Now stands at 333.34...only 666.76 to go! :-)

I still have my emergency fund in a seperate account which I intent to keep adding to each month to build.

I'm aiming for my first 1000 parcel (not thinking as the emergency fund as a parcel) to be completed by Septmeber at the latest. I've got an expensive month in Aug with car insurance, car needs a lot of work doing so got a seperate account for that and I'd rather over estimate the Bills than under, but it will be my first time paying my years insurance without having debt!!! That makes me happy!!

    Wow! That sounds fantastic!

    You are an inspiration!

I need to remember this for when I am debt free.

Will look forward to hearing how those pounds add up.

Thank you Pidge 04. I'm loving see my parcel grow and trying to find extra pennies/pounds to throw at it-it's made me do an extra shift this weekend! Ha ha.

Thanks beanielou-hoping for at least two parcels before Xmas!

Hi Shelbi, of course-to be fair it wasn't my idea (saw it on here somewhere, but can't remember where) but it's so satisfying seeing it grow in a seperate account. And something nice about building a 1000 parcel as appose to an emergency fund. Ha ha.

Wow-how time flies when you're debt free!

Sadly, as of yet not been able to add anymore to my parcel as this month is super expensive, but I am organised for this which is a first!! Not a credit card or pay day loan on sight!!!

Car having a lot of work done on it at the moment, so will see if any money left over from what I've put aside. If any left I will throw at parcel.

I'm hoping to scrape at least another 100 together before the end of the month to throw at it.

I've worked LOADS of over time, so will get that next month which will be thrown straight to this parcel...hoping an extra 300/400 plus after tax etc so I'll be well on my way to my first 1000 parcel.

Once I've hit my target of my first 1000 parcel, I might book myself I a little weekend away-nothing crazy, then I'll set up my second 1000 parcel :-) It really motivates me to see the parcel grow, even when I as just pennies or a couple of pounds.

Anyway, rambled on way more than I thought, but good to keep a check on myself!

    Happy Thursday folks!

Hi, Scott-weiland, yes as soon as I got serious about my debt I got a second job on top of my full time job. I take as much overtime as possible and do the odd babysitting etc. I had a massive de-clutter and sold a lot on they buy and sell sites/at carboots, but that was all mainly before I joined this site. Cut back on gifts for birthday/ Christmas etc. Cut back on nights out and buying things I wanted...if I don't 'need' it, I don't get it.

I'm now debt free, but still Har my second job and will continue to do overtime etc to build a fund I'm comfortable with.
