Sainsburys Energy Wrong Unit Rates Advice 16th May 18 at 11:06 AM
My fixed term with Sainsbury's Energy came to an end and they sent me a letter with new rates on Price Promise 2020 tariff:-

    Gas Standing Charge = 25.05 & per kWh = 3.7p
    Electricity Standing Charge = 25.05 & per kWh = 12.29p

I signed up for the tariff based on the information and rates in the letter.

Now they have sent me a letter saying they got the rates incorrect and they will be:-

    Gas Standing Charge = 25.05 & per kWh = 3.85p - 5% Increase

    Electricity Standing Charge = 25.05 & per kWh = 14.94p - 21% increase

I spoke to someone in customer care and they claim its a error in the original rates and they sent the letter to inform me of the error blah blah blah.

This is a significant difference in prices and I would have never gone for the higher rate, what should I do?

    What do I do?

Just notified Sainsbury's Energy of our electric reading. As a result they have increased the value of our DD

    from 194/month

    to 254/month

A huge amount to pay monthly for electricity. Especially as we've only used 207 of electricity in the past THREE months!!

How do Sainsbury's get away with being in debt to me by 500 (and increasing) when it is their miscalculation!?

Now in the process of changing supplier.

The more actual meter readings that are provided, the more accurate the process. That said, a credit balance of 500 is on the high side. Personally, I would have asked for some of it back before initiating a transfer.
