Advice on these 3 phones from you kind experts (!) 12th May 18 at 3:59 PM
Hi! Following on from my last post been looking at review. Bearing in mind I never use more than 1.5 GB data the smarty sim only, 1 month contract, 2g data on EE (my phonei is unlocked I think BT use EE if not???). @ 7.50 PCM. Unlimited minutes & texts..

Handset options are a), Nokia 3, over a 24 month period cost PCM Is around 11.50. Handset, many different t options but working on 99. The other 2 are moto g5 or samsung galaxy j5. Both handsets around 120. So we're talking over 2 years in real terms around 12.50 PCM. All sets are new with a 1 or 2 yr guarantee.....but NO long 2 yr contract, just a month. Considering I'm paying 12 PCM for SIM. Only with BT , admittedly with 6 GB data, but all other specs the same , bit of a no brainer,. Just to stress I never exceed 2gb data but unlimited calls/texts. If I renew to the cheapest BT Option , Nokia 3, we're talking 13+ PCM AND a 2 yr contract.

Will try my luck with BT but don't hold
    out much hope!

From the review the. Motorola wins.....any expert feedback as my head is puddled! Sorry for typos.....need new glasses !OK! No bloatware/ability to use SD card for internal memory & A quick charger, under 30 mi s to 80%, seems selling point! Thanks in advance!

The Moto G5 is been replaced by the Moto G6 Play which has double 32GB memory and a battery which is 50% bigger than the Moto G5.

    Its 130 at o2 PAYG

    ..

Ballyblack, THANKS! Will check it still same great features& feedback???? A big battery is a bonus....presently using a samsung s3 old mini, recently bought an extended; battery for it, yes , increased usage by 1/2 day max. Will still keep it as a an emergency. Will get an urber cheap PAYG SIM for it.
Will have it in In glovebox phone but as its old starting to play up a little. Plus HATE the bloat ware on it that can't be erased or moved to SD card!

I would try and stick with the 7.50/month on a SIM only basis. The data is rather on the low side these days, a smart phone on 4G can eat a lot of data in a very short time.

The current SIM only offers from EE, Giffgaff, Three, etc are way more expensive for unlimited minutes.

Can you keep the SIM and buy a SIM free handset elsewhere?

If you go with Smarty, it's very cheap and easy to buy extra data as you need it @ 1.25 per Gb. Unlike other networks which cane you for out of bundle usage. I'll admit I'm biased I've used them since Sept without an issue.

I'd go with the G6 Play on O2, can be unlocked on ebay for 2.50, then choose whichever sim only deal that is suitable.
If you buy the phone from O2, choose any PAYG sim, doesn't really matter as they don't actually charge for it when it goes in your basket.

    Virgin 6/month, 2500mins, unlimited text, 2Gb data

yes I have noticed that. But if you go into o2 shop they will insist on an 10 o2 top up so better on line

You might get this deal, 5/month, 1500mins, 2gb data. It's aimed at current customers but you may well get it anyway, might be worth a try if it's suitable.

Virgin will be putting up prices in July by 3.3%, it doesn't apply to those taking out a contract now, so you are safe until 2019 at least.

In fact do that for any phone you are contemplating.

The trouble with the glowing reviews is that they are all on brand new phones, nobody ever does a long term (12 months or so) user review which often reveals serious deficiencies.

Yes by all means look up reviews of any potential purchase (and not just phones), but in no way be totally put off by negative ones. No product is perfect, and if you are looking for one you will come up short. Let's be honest, people very rarely post that they are happy with their product. You only have to look at the P,V&W forum here to see that!

    Thanks!
Thanks for ALL help. I'd never have found this out on my own. Sorry for late reply, G/F is I'll at the no. Think I'll go for the smarty as unlimited minutes and whilst I take on board previous posters issue with Moto that looks my favourite.,will go to BT 1ST to see if anything can be matched. Douubt it though. This work's out the SAME as I presently pay....around 12 PCM over 24 months and have a zero interest deal on Amazon credit & also couple of credit cards. Will clear in 4 months max. So.....a 1 month contract with Smarty and phone owned outright!

Will update what BT say later. Thanks again!

I must admit that Lenovo has not maintained the Motorola brand quality at the standard it once was, to the extent I avoided Lenovo when buying a laptop recently.
