Hi LeBon and welcome to MSE,
Can you clarify why you used a Portuguese claim company in this situation for future posters please? Is it that you went on holiday to Portugal?
It does sound suspect that they won't issue an invoice and are demanding such varying figures. You are right to be cautious about sending anything at this stage. If you signed anything with this company when you started to use their services, then you should check the terms and conditions. If nothing was signed, then more alarm bells are ringing.
The biggest issue here is that the debt has originated abroad, and that complicates matters, however, if you post a few more details, there should be some information we can go through to help.
