Slimming Towards Summer - Slimming World Support Thread 2018 7th May 18 at 12:30 PM
Shiny new thread, with all the info carried over as follows:-

Slimming World and Food Optimising is a plan for life, it's not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you've been doing in the past hasn't got you to where you want to be.

You can't use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.

Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Most of the food you eat should come from the free foods list – so that’s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables.

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Speed Foods!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice and one Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread, nuts and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

    -------------------------------------------------------------

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Speed Foods to half of your plate
B: switch to more Speed Foods

    or

C: try Extra Easy SP - details are on this link - https://www.minimins.com/threads/extra-easy-sp-plan.348340/

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments.

We won tonight! So it was worth the picky food I had at the funeral and the wine syns watching the game in the pub! Line drawn and back on plan tomorrow.

abbafan I can only comment on what's worked for me. I got to target and stayed there. I only go to group about every 2 months to weigh. I did go more regularly about a year ago to get rid of a holiday gain but what I've paid over about 7 years has been minimal. So I'm saying get back to target and then decide as then you won't pay. You're lucky that you have a good group. I don't feel any loyalty as my original one doesn't meet any more and was pretty boring anyway. HTH.

ETA: I've never bought bars. Mostly my HEBs go on toast but if you like bars then buy Alpen in the £shop or Benefit bars from Aldi.

Hubby has had meetings this morning so I played hooky and went swimming after dropping the dog off so I'm feeling very virtuous at the moment...came back and had my porridge so feeling very stuffed as well.

Will have a chilli pasta bake that's been defrosting and I expect I'll have an early night as I was awake at 4 .....

I can see the point about the security but given a choice I'd like the Swans to stay up as I was born there so have mixed feelings.

So, line drawn on all yesterday's syns and back on it today. I managed to fit in a food shop yesterday too so am going to do some cooking. I've got YS swedes to make up with carrot mash and red cabbage to braise. I find both very useful sides to have in the freezer for when fresh Speed is running low.

I called into Morrisons when I was away at the weekend and bought a couple of tins of low fat corned beef so we're having hash today. It's expensive but low syn. I don't know anywhere else that sells it.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, fried egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, HEA milk for drinks
L: veg & lentil soup, JP with cottage cheese
D: corned beef hash, cauli and cabbage
Syns: 1.5 for corned beef, 1? for horseradish

I still have a soft spot for the Saints as Dad used to take us to see them around once each season as a special treat when I was growing up - our main (and nearest) team was Reading, who we went to most weeks, but they were only in the old third division, whereas Southampton were in the first so you got to see all the good players - can remember them seeing them beat Leeds in around 1970, with Ron Davies and Mick Channon both scoring

<edit> got sidetracked reminiscing about football there

    Plan for today:
    B: melon
L: ham or chicken slald (cucumber, red pepper, mushrooms, boiled egg)
    D: courgetti bolognese

Snacks: muller light, Alpen light bars (HEXB), cheese (HEXA), easy peelers
Syns: none planned. Went a bit off track yesterday as decided to use up a non-SW Iceland chicken korma from the freezer - am counting it as 16.5 syns but haven't used many this week so can take it. It was 452 calaroies and as I just had cauli rice with it I don't think that will be too bad.

    Hello regulars and new people.

I am here. I've had a couple of weeks trying something different and I know that the SW way is for me. I need the healthy mix of rigidity (in counting syns) and flexibility (i.e not calorie or carb counting 24/7!) however group is definitely NOT for me...currently (and obviously hasn't been for a while!)

On that note; fresh slate today.
Breakfast: overnight oats - heb oats with a strawberry muller light and frozen raspberries/strawberries. coffee with splash of semi skimmed (from hea)
lunch: ainsley harriott cous cous - roasted veg flavour. I had just under half the pack so about 2 syns I think(?) with red pepper, carrot, cucumber and tinned salmon. 1 original babybel (half hea)
mid afternoon: 1 small easy peeler, 1 small apple
tea: plan is steak with half a jacket potato and salad/veg (spinach, hard boiled egg, cucumber, red pepper, carrot, mushroom, sweetcorn)
    evening: doughnut 12.5syn

    drinks: water
    heb: oats
hea: 1 babybel original and 125 ml semi skimmed milk

as I'm no longer with a group can anyone help with syns for nespresso coffee? I'm presuming the pain coffee capsules are free (as they are espressos/Americanos with fresh milk added to taste) but not sure on the flavoured ones? vanilla, caramel and chocolate (I can get the brand names if anyone can search the app for me?)

aside from the whole food diary thing:
Finally saw someone at the hospital about my sinuses! So I've started a new 8 week treatment plan then will have to go back to see what happens then
still a member at the gym but not getting to do a home dvd much...plus not that fussed for a dvd atm. I'm thinking of swapping my Monday gym session for swimming lengths...or maybe alternate between gym and swim

hopefully I don't seem too needy on here but on occasion I may ask for syns help

    <<<<<<< feeling sorry for myself
Did a lot of walking yesterday on trip out and been really feeling it today
Did 17,850 steps by the end of the day which has aggravated my sciatica. We went to The Avengers Headquarters (if anyone knows where it was filmed, you’ll know where I mean ) didn’t see Ironman, Captain America or Spider-Man right Disappointed
We walked back to school, I was practically dragging my afternoon charge as she was whinging all the way back.
So does anyone want my legs and back? Feel free

This seems really crazy but I put Nespresso and Nespresso pods into the search and they're not there! That's ridiculous! Maybe someone will have better luck than me.

There is a facility to report things that are missing but I did that with some noodles that disappeared weeks ago and nothing's happened.

Ainsley Harriott is meant to be 1.5 syns for both 100g or 125g!!

    Evening everyone.

Little NSV to report - I've taken a link out of my watch! Who knew your wrists get thinner??

    Today's menu
B Bran flakes banana yoghurt honey (forgot to get berries out of freezer)
L Subway chicken salad with a tiny drizzle of mayo
D Creole chicken from the freezer with rice
Snacks Sweet chilli snack a jacks (4.5 syns) fruit

Neglected car has unfortunately paid me back in spades at the garage.....apparently cleaning and hoovering it does nothing for the dodgy brakes.

Hi everyone, back from my long weekend with my DD1 and her partner. Too many syns consumed over the weekend but no idea how many in total but definitely over the week's allowance.

Thanks to Chris for the chart and the new thread. Well done Nicki on being SOTW.

Have had a quick read through the old thread and this thread but have forgotten who's done what! Welcome newbies and welcome back LLS. Nice to see you posting again. Good luck with going it alone.

    Today's plan:

B - porridge; fresh raspberries (HEB)
L - HM leek and potato soup
D - HM sweet & sour pork & rice (DH cooked the pork on the BBQ last night but couldn't manage it all!) 0.5 syns for cornflour; pineapple, Halo Top vanilla bean ice cream (3 syns); mini meringue (1 syn)

    HEA - milk
    HEB - porridge
    Syns - 4.5 as above

I'm just weighing and going tomorrow morning as we're off tomorrow until Sunday in the motorhome again. No idea how I'm managing to stay within target range with all these weekends away!
