Parking over the line 17th Apr 18 at 9:07 AM
Hi All, bit of advice please ..

At weekend "someone" parked at a big retail park car park.
This car park is free to park at, so someone was very surprised to find a yellow bag stuck on their window when they came out ..

On opening it, they found a "fine" notice wanting 100 !!

It seems they had parked outside the parking lines.
They had parked right next to the next car, which must have also been outside the lines , but that car had now gone, leaving theirs straggling 2 spaces ..

Do they have to pay this ridicules sum, or can it be ignored ?

I'm a bit suprised that such an experienced forumista as you didn't spot the parking tickets sub board, which is where you need to post having first read the Newbies sticky.

Moral of the story - always park within the lines. If the car next to you is parked over the lines then find a new bay to park in.

Yup - PM a board guide and get this thread moved over. Asking on this board is quite futile.

Whilst you are waiting, have a good read of the Newbies Sticky at the top of that forum. It outlines what does work for dealing with these jokers. I'm afraid that relying on the facts of any situation rarely works - They simply don't care.

Also, ignoring stopped being a reliable way of dealing with all of them some years back when the law changed. It can work in some situations but you need to know the MO of the various companies and their "appeal"/trade bodies, which is also what the Newbies Sticky is there to help with.
