Old Style Daily Tuesday 17th April 2018 17th Apr 18 at 6:02 AM
This is an ďover the garden fenceĒ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. Itís a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things weíre going to do today or what weíve achieved already. Everyoneís welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasnít just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please donít post large pictures, or clip art Ė links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that donít have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Holly, I'm glad your GP is on your side, hopefully things will get better now.

Silver-oldie, what a horrible situation. We were "lucky" in that both our parents were still as sharp as ever when they died. A doctor asked my brother (at mum's bedside) if they should resuscitate her if her heart stopped. He just said to ask her because she was perfectly capable of making the decision (which was no).

Tru, good to see you back.

Speky, have a lovely weekend away.

I wrote the above a couple of hours ago and then got sidetracked by the pup wanting to play. We've just been out for a walk as well. DH has gone to mow DS' lawn (he's still working in Wales during the week).

DH has also agreed to work part-time for a firm managed by someone he used to work with many moons ago. We'll see how that pans out, it's not as if he has to find another job if it doesn't.

I also got the details of my second (small) pension and I've decided to treat me and DD to a spa break with the lump sum. I don't know when though because she has so many things on the go and in fairness so do we so co-ordinating will be difficult.

TA, did you see that the new Tom Kerridge programme tonight is coming from the farm shop at Airton - it's only about 4 miles from our Yorkshire house. Oh and I hope DD's rash isn't anything serious, it sounds nasty.

I am envious of those of you with access to a good surgery. I tried and tried and tried to get through at 8.30. Eventually a recorded message said if you require a visit for an emergency press 1. If you require an emergency appointment for today press 2. For anything else ring back after 10.30!! DD decided she would go in on her way from school and see if any better luck. She had! A cancellation at 9.40 if she wanted to wait! By then her eyes had joined the rest of the red and itching symptoms. The doc thinks it's a bad virus and prescribed different anti h's and cream and see how she goes but warned her it may take some time to clear. Where have all these viruses come from that keep bombarding us these days!

Plasterer arrived dead on 8.00 and labouring away. A bit quieter than yesterday's electrician until he mixes more plaster.

I've just got a pile of Mr TA's shirts ironed and put away and he has finally agreed that he should really part with some of the older ones. I have been hounding him for years to prune them! Some of them date back donkey's years and he never wears them so why has he wanted to keep them I ask!

Take care all xx ps SNOOZER just read your post about Tom Kerridge. I intended to watch that and forgot about it. So thanks for the reminder!

Back home from the hospital... three puncture marks in my arms and they had to take it out of my hand in the end which is aching already.

Made headway with upstairs but i now want to sleep.

    Good afternoon everyone,

Lovely warm & sunny here in France DH was up at 8:00 to feed DSisís two cats - apparently very misty He then did a bakery run - croissants & pain au raisin DSis was up & at Ďem early today but ashamed to say I was woken up at 11:00 by DH with a cup of tea Then he & my DSis did a Tip run - a dozen more bags & lots of small electricals & angling bits. Now have a clear hallway

Thank you all for your kind wishes re my hand - I was very good last night - put on one of those disposable gloves & did the washing up & dried the crockery & cutlery - however I now have a fear of washing glasses

Holly, I cannot express how happy I am that you have such a kind & caring doctor. Let us hope that he is successful - he really sounds like he doesnít suffer fools gladly

silver-oldie, my heart goes out to you. I have no experience of this sort of thing, but perhaps if you think about what you would like if you were in your DMís position? Feel free to tell me off if I have overstepped!

DSis & my DH have been shopping - I will be cooking dinner tonight They also bought some wheelie crates so I will be packing DMís Italian crockery which I have requested. It will replace my Mr A crockery which will be donated to cs

Hope everyone has a good afternoon & evening & that the promised mini heatwave makes it to all corners of the U.K. & beyond.

    See you soon
