    Car damaged by a bus !!!128545; 16th Apr 18 at 11:44 AM
So while at work on friday night our local bus decided to clip my car squeezing through a tight space caused by another parked car. The driver was told he would not fit by a neighbour but tried anyway and resulted in my drivers side dear door been scuffed. My car is a 20 year old Volvo which is not in the best condition cosmetically but is a great runner. I have had to send photos of the damage to First Group who will assess it and decide what to do. I have told them if they were to go through their insurance they would just write my car off due to the age and value. He did mention that they could do a lump sum payout instead but will wait to hear. Has anyone had any experience with anything like this before or could anyone take a guess at what I could expect as a reasonable payout .

Wait and see what they come back with but perhaps you should get your own quotes for the repair so that if they want to go through the insurance route, you have a costed alternative. If it's just scuffs you might decide to leave it if they push to go through insurance?

You should inform your own insurer anyway - I would expect the bus company to inform theirs and therefore there will be a record of the incident involving your caer.
