Selling a house and buying another sperately. 15th Apr 18 at 1:43 PM
We have had our house on the market 2 weeks and only had 3 viewers so not a great deal of interest. We lucky enough to have my wifes parents offer a place to stay with them if we get a buyer and cant find a house to purchase (not much we are interested in on the market currently)

So I am thinking do we need to complete our sale and purchase on the same day if we have other accommodation available? So we might aswell advertise as no onward chain?

    Obvious downsides are:

moving twice, not a massive issue we dont have much stuff.

Mortgage erc, about 800 if we dont port within 6 months of selling. So not a big amount in the scheme of things.

    Advantages:

Save loads on mortgage, bills while living with parents

    Being chain free buyers

Not having to rush into buying a house we may not be truely happy with.

Advertising sale as NO ONWARD CHAIN to gain more interest.

So overall looks like a good plan. However have I missed anything out by advertising as no onward chain?

There is no other way I'd sell and buy. Always sell first, get somewhere to stay then look to purchase. Cuts out a lot of problems, mind you being in Scotland we don't have "chains" anyway.
