Replacment Fluorescent Tubes 15th Apr 18 at 10:42 AM
I need to get a couple of replacement 5 foot tubes for the garage. Current ones have been in there for decades.

Trouble is nobody states the measurement in feet only millimetres, which I find very confusing

So does a tube measuring 1514 mm replace the old 5 foot one? Just want to be sure before I order.

    Thanks.

Looks like 1500 mm is the replacement or equivalent. See this link.

Is 1514mm the length of the tube including the pins? Remove one of your 5 foot tubes and measure it.

They are standard sizes - for a 58W 5ft tube you want 1500mm or thereabouts.

Two things to check - if the lights are quite old you probably want a T8 tube, they're pretty standard and can be used in place of the really old T12 tubes. It should be stamped on the existing tubes.

Check the colour temperature - warm white vs. cool white.

Oh - if they're old, you probably want to change the starters as well.

melbury, if it helps for future reference: 1000 mm = 39.37 inches, or 3 ft 3.37 inches.
