SDLT and first time buyer exemption 14th Apr 18 at 1:00 PM

We in process of buying our first property (freehold house). We have recently bought a land (without any house or dwelling on it, just land) abroad (outside EU). We dont own any other property anywhere (neither did we own any in past). Can we still claim exemption for the first time buyer SDLT ?

The acquisition of bare land (without a dwelling in the course of construction on it) does not prevent you from being a first time buyer. Presumably you will not start the construction of a dwelling on that land before you buy your house.
