    Tv from Gum tree

Tv from Gum tree 12th Apr 18 at 10:38 PM
Been buying a few things from Gum tree recently to try save a few since buying a house.

Made a mistake bought a 19" tv from a chap in a less affluent area, our clothes stank of smoke as left. The TV has a noise which we did not hear when we showed us with a picture (maybe because he had another TV on loud). I am sure the chap was dealing in stolen goods.

lesson learned don't buy stuff from areas where i would not want to walk in or park my car at night! This is going back on market place for a loss.

Perhaps the lesson is - check properly before you buy.

I am sure the chap was dealing in stolen goods.....

So why did you buy it then? Surely this makes you guilty of handling said goods?

Handling and then reselling? Ironic if it was stolen and the original owner turns up to buy it.

Are you concerned that you bought stolen goods, or only concerned that you bought stolen goods that didn't work properly?

So anyone that lives in a less affluent area and smokes is a criminal. Wow, just wow.

If you have reason to think it might've been stolen I guess there's no harm in letting the police know the make/model/serial to check against their records. It's really upsetting having your home broken into so you'd be doing folk a favour if you were right. I'd agree that smoking and selling poor condition goods aren't enough reasons on their own though. Not sure how you'd tell tbh...
