    Skipton transfer gone awry

Skipton transfer gone awry 12th Apr 18 at 7:27 AM
    Hi all,

I transferred my HTB and Nutmeg LISA to Skipton earlier this year. A week before the end of the tax year I calculated and paid in another chunk of money to top it up to 4k.

Unfortunately just yesterday I got a letter from Skipton, dated 3 April, to say that the total amount exceeded 4k and they returned the payment but saying I can still pay in and giving the amount of remaining allowance. It turns out that when calculating how much I paid in this year I forgot to include the 100 in Nutmeg.

I entirely accept my fault for the error in calculation, but the letter from Skipton has been as useless as as chocolate teapot - they could have contacted me by email (which they have a number of times when setting up my account) so I could actually do something about the transfer

Is there anything I can do at this point?

Have you tried contacting them to see if they can retrospectively accept a proportion of your rejected contribution in relation to last tax year? Not sure they will but worth a try.

    Alex
