    Advice on a 150 laptop please 8th Apr 18 at 12:57 PM
    Hi guys

I'm looking for a laptop for around 150, ideally 13 - 15 inch screen. Will be used for general internet usage, emails, watching catch up TV but nothing too intensive.

I am used to W10 but have seen some refurbished Apple laptops for around 150, worth considering?

I have used Chrome Books and got on okay but would prefer either Windows or maybe try Apple.

Any suggestions or advice would be very welcome.

    Cheers
    Kev

There are certified refurbished laptops available from 3rd parties on Amazon, only a few are in the 150 price range. Check out the cost of a replacement battery too, as at that price the battery is not likely to have been replaced. Avoid the 2GB RAM ones too, 4GB is the min for Win 10.

I like the Toshiba R930, very light weight, built well, fairly sturdy, and even a DVD drive built in

I'd seriously consider upping your budget by at least another 50 and even then you'd be looking at a refurbished laptop for anything half decent.

Thinkpad T420/T430 from Ebay. Newandusedlaptops4u is a reputable refurbisher.

150 for a Macbook/Mackbook Pro is insanely cheap to the point even broken ones fetch more on Ebay. That only leaves iBooks which are well and truly out of date and you'll struggle to find any software to use on them as they use a RISC CPU no longer supported in Max OS X. Avoid.

Just get a mouse as you were advised in the other thread.
Can people stop loaning money/being a guarator to family/friends, it rarely ends well and you lose out as your money is gone or you get shafted with being a guarantor.

At that price it won't last long. As mentioned I think you'll only be able to get refurbed ones for that price.

Dell laptops are quite robust. Of if you can get an old Lenovo Thinkpad. Still an SSD in it and it will go quite quick.

Thanks guys, have purchased a wireless mouse so will see how that works.

Is this worth considering for a cheap laptop?

But since your ACER works fine with an external mouse now, there's no need.
