Tax code 2018/19 notice employer listing 12th Mar 18 at 1:32 PM
    Hi!

I received my notice this morning, but noticed the employer listed is one I work for one day a year at most when there is a general/local election, rather than the one I have worked for much of the this tax year.

Any ideas why they have done that, or whether that bit can be corrected online using the quoted website: gov.uk/personal-tax-account?

    Thanks

If you have more than one on-going employment you will be given different tax codes for each one. The overall allowance will be split in some way between the two. You can change how the split is assigned through your online tax account - probably easiest to have the one day/year job taxed with zero allowance as you dont want to assign more allowance to that job than you can use.

Last year my tax code was split. I'm concerned as to why they have allocated my entire tax allowance to the one employer I work one day a year for except through incompetence or avarice.

Maybe worth looking at your personal tax account on gov.uk as this shows details of all the "real time" details your employer's have been sending to HMRC.

I've logged on to gov.uk/personal-tax-account and this doesn't vary from the notice. I can't see the 'real time' data, except the PAYE summary for 2017/18 which again shows the wrong employer and payments. Have added the correct employer and sending a letter about it.

I've just spoken to an agent about my coding notice as I wanted to understand one item better. He was really helpful, took time to investigate and jiggled things around for me.

I had a 'less adjustment to Rate Bands' of 23.00 which I didn't understand - seems they are estimating my next years' income higher than this. Anyway, after a long conversation where we went through lots of figures he adjusted this adjustment to 1.00 which means I gain approx 70.00.

He then asked if I wanted this to be moved to my occupational pension provider, so things can be sorted.
