    Contract up - tempted by the SamsungS9+ 11th Mar 18 at 2:44 PM
    Hello everyone,
    I daren't put this on my DFW board! I'm interested in the S9+. I've never owned a Samsung. I'm just wondering if any of you have? It's roughly 68pm (currently I pay 38) but I read really impressive reviews.
    I think I'm actually writing to encourage you to convince me NOT to buy it! When my contract is up, I won't be paying for the phone anymore, just the airtime so technically saving 20.
    The phone works perfectly well, I'm just looking at what is out there.
    Thanks!

    Bearing in mind this is MSE, and the MSE advice:
    Then looking at your options (assuming 2 year contract)

    1/ SamsumgS9+ contract at 68pm x24 = 1632

    2/ Sansumg 128mb S9+ bought outright = 730
    + 24months of SIM @ say 10 = 240 Total 970
    SAVING = 662

    3/ "Good enough modern phone" eg Xiaomi Redmi 5plus = 150
    + 24months of SIM @ say 10 = 240 Total 390
    SAVING = 1.242

    Your choice depends on how much you are willing to pay for the "very latest and greatest (that will be just "above average" next year)"

    Or put another way ... How MSE are you?

    Upu always were just paying for the air time. You could do that at very little cost with the existing phone rather than spend hundreds (or thousands) on a new toy with a bundle. I know which I'd MUCH prefer...

    That's fifty quid a month extra ... six hundred quid a year.

    Tough call isn't it?

    On 28-02-2018, 8:59 PM you posted the below on your thread about trying to become debt free.

    "I've only three months left on my iPhone which I really like and won't be changing so I should save the 20pm handset cost and go just sim only."

    And now you want to replace something that works perfectly well, for something you dont need, which will cost you more.

    Erm.....

    Do yourself a favour, reduce your monthly mobile bill to 10 or less. Find the best SIM-only deal for your usage requirements, there's plenty of info here. Then a month before your minimum term ends call the network and ask for your PAC. If they don't offer you a deal as good as the best you found elsewhere, which they'll ask you about, take your PAC and go.

    Decent deals on SIM only can be had for 10 pounds a month.

    Unlimited calls.texts and poss about 2gb of data.

    Use the savings to save fo phone of your choice....!!!!!

    A few months ago I went for a "cheap" phone for the first time (Xiomi Redmi note 4), and its by far the best phone ive ever owned.

    Battery lasts forever, and lightning fast and does virtually everything a 800 phone does for under 90.

    No more flagship ripoff phones for me anymore (And my family and friends too lol)
