Trading in 2 cars with Finance 11th Mar 18 at 1:47 PM
    Hi Guys,

Im looking to change my car for a slightly newer one. My partner and I both have oldish cars with finance still on them, the balance is equal to or less than the current trade in price for the cars. Both cars are in different names, The fiesta is mine, the focus is my partners, we each pay for our own finance seperately. Keeping them both running until the end of their finance isnt going to be an option.

What im wanting to do, is trade in both of our cars and get a slightly newer fiesta, I know the car can only be registered in one name, im not sure about finance. but what i dont know is whether or not you can trade in two different cars owned by two different people with outstanding fiance for a single car with finance either in my name or joint with my partner?

If you any you guys have some experience in this it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks for your time!

Yes and no, it is up to the trader if they wish to participate in the deal.

The dealer is unlikely to have an issue with it.

I have traded a van and a car in against one car before (Octavia vRS / Landrover freelander van) with no issue - one had outstanding finance on that was cleared with the value of the car. The other had no finance so went towards the deposit for new car.

They wont have an issue on who is the registered keeper as long as both of you can prove who you are and have title to the cars.

I did it about 7 or 8 years ago, cars in two different names.
