    Motonovo/Manheim

    Motonovo/Manheim 10th Mar 18 at 7:55 PM
    Evening all

I am planning to hand my car back via VT in a few months time. It's with motonovo and I've heard some horror stories about what manheim will try and charge for once they collect it. Other than a few scuffs on the alloys it's in mint condition and I've only done approx 8k miles in the 2 years I've had it.

*does anyone have a checklist of the things manheim will check/charge for so I can check for these before I set the wheels in motion
*I have a private reg on, do I need to take that off NOW or can I do it as it goes back
*shall I get the alloys sorted myself before it goes back as it's probably cheaper than what they will charge me, or risk it and see what they come back with.

The credit agreement just states reasonable wear and tear. But that's open to interpretation!

    All help gratefully received!

    Thanks.
    Stylo

If you've driven very few miles in the car and it's in mint condition and you'll have paid 50% of the total amount payable in a few months time have you looked at the possibility of selling the car and settling the finance rather than a VT as there could be a small amount of equity in the car.

Just as a sanity check are you aware the VT point is having paid 50% of the TOTAL AMOUNT payable (which includes the balloon at the end if its a PCP) - its not 50% of your monthly payments.

We owe approx 5k on it. It would sell privately for no more than about 3k if that. It's a finance agreement not PCP and it states in the agreement the amount I have to have paid back before I can hand it back which will be paid next month.

Ouch - if you've already paid best part of 5K and its only worth 3k with 5k still to go I can see why you want to VT. Have you ask Moto Novo if they use any industry guidelines for assessing condition like these for example https://www.bvrla.co.uk/service/fair-wear-and-tear-guides

I haven't yet because i don't want to raise any flags with them. They are notorious apparently for marking your credit file incorrectly and then its a pain to get amended, and just being general pains in the bum so want to get all my ducks in a row before I send official VT paperwork.

We are saving for a house deposit so don't want anything to impact that if poss and then extra money is going in the savings.
