Getting back to zero! 9th Mar 18 at 12:46 PM
    Background: Female | 36 | student | renting | in debt | no savings

    Debts:

    (student)
    Barclays OD (student account): 498
    Nationwide OD: 250
    (DMP)
    Natwest OD: 1221
    Natwest Loan: 4651
    JD Williams: 1747
    Very: 772
    (Credit Cards)
    Lloyds: 474/500
    Marbles: 500/700
    Aqua: 177/200
    Capital One: 187/200
    Capital One: 187/200
    Barclaycard: 399/400
    (DCA)
    ARC: 587
    CRS: 89
    Motormile: 487
    (Other)
    Credit Union: 1058
    TOTAL: 12512

My aim is to have my credit cards paid off by January 2019. I also want to start trying for full & final offers on the DCA debts as well as Very as soon as that gets defaulted.

I currently receive a student loan that breaks down to 799 a month as well as 700 from my OH for his share of the bills. Outgoings are 2100-2300 a month. I currently work 23 hrs a week and bring home 900 ish a month. If I can stick to the budget then I am ok Eventually I will be leaving my perm job and going bank/agency, to have more flexibility.

My credit union loan is cleared next May (if I don't clear it sooner) and my flight will be paid off by this October.

Thanks guys. I hope to update often. Been an expensive week, as not only is it mothers day today but it's also my dads birthday.

My aim after the 3 years is to have no debt other than student debt oh and to lose 60 lbs!

    Welcome and good luck.
Perhaps your little savings pots need to become your new emergency fund to help you stay off the CC's etc.

I think your Dad might prefer you put the money you'd spend on him onto paying off debts. Why don't you make a booklet with a list of things you'll do for him? I.e. take him shopping one day/clean the car etc.

Received a reply from NCO (Very), one of my creditors in my DMP, that they accept my payment of 1 to be reviewed in June. Going to stick to 1 till they default me then try for a full and final. They are notorious for being difficult to deal with.

Having another think of how I shall be paying off this debt. Instead of leaving my perm job and just going bank, I am going to stay here as long as possible and use the bank money to pay off the cc + DMP debts (200-300 ish a month). My uni also gives us 750 in 3 instalments throughout the year so that will also go towards them. or offers to the DCA debts. For May that amount will need to be 130+, which is above min payments on my credit cards.

Using YNAB has changed the way that I budget Been waiting for almost 4 weeks for Nationwide to open my student account. Turns out they are waiting on a signature from me (never told me) and the account is only a cash card account! Nice of them to just leave me waiting.

Have me bank recruitment day tomorrow, waited to work some shifts in April but don't think my file (if successful) will be complete by then. Hopefully most thing will be done tomorrow as they do the whole HR stuff at the end.

Finally got my placements for this year:

3 weeks with the Dementia Nurse Specialist
3 weeks with child health (thank god it's short)
    7 weeks at Nuffield
7 weeks on a gastro ward

None of these are in my local walking area so need to work travel into my budget. Hopefully get some more interesting placements next year.

So went to an interview/assessment day today for a bank position with one of my local community nhs trust. It was a very simple interview, group activity and written exercise. I was offered the position so I am just waiting for my references to be done and to be cleared by occ health.

The bank position mentioned a few post above turned into a part-time job offer.I have kind of accepted even though the role won't fit around my placement hours. I am hoping that I will be able to stay on bank as everyone automatically gets placed on bank and that is what I want.

Working out my budget on financier (which is basically an online version of YNAB), I will be able to cover July's expenses even without my basic wage from my current job if I end up leaving in May. Going forward is a different matter but hopefully I'll be on the bank somewhere or agency if needed by then.

    Hi

How is it going? Just looking through your posts can I ask are you not including all your debts in your dmp and continuing to make normal payments on some? Just wondered if any of those on dmp had picked up on that (and how were they) and did you include all of them on your I&E sheet? Still waiting to hear back from my lot
