Open a cash ISA after transferring H2B ISA 6th Mar 18 at 9:57 PM
    Hi all,

I'm a little unclear on the rules regarding opening/paying into different types of ISAs in my current situation. This year I've paid some money into a cash Help to Buy ISA opened in a previous tax year, which I then transferred fully into a cash Lifetime ISA last month. I'd like to now open and pay into a new cash ISA account, but am unsure if my previous payments into the Help to Buy ISA preclude me from doing this? Has anyone attempted this or have clarity on what the rules are here?

    Thanks in advance!

You can open another cash ISA this tax year, under the rules explained in this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5801661

However, have you considered other options that are likely to give better returns than non-HTB cash ISAs?

Hi Chris, I am in exactly the same boat. I have transferred my Barclays HTB ISA into a Skipton LISA.I have read that you cannot have a HTB ISA and a Cash ISA, However as i have transferred the cash into a Lifetime ISA i wonder if this means i can now have a Cash ISA in the same tax year, If you find out please let me know.

I've also replied 'yes' on ther other two threads on the main savings & investments board where you asked the same question
