AMEX Plevin 6th Mar 18 at 1:23 PM
    Hi Guys

I issued a PPI claim to AMEX several years ago that got declined. In light of the new Plevin case i wrote to AMEX in October 2017 and made a new complaint. Since October 17 i have received 3 letters from AMEX saying that they're still currently investigating the complaint. It has now been 5 months since i opened the complaint and with still no conclusion from AMEX.

Is it normal for a large financial institute to take more than 5 months to investigate ? They have all of my details on file as i have copies from a SAR request and my account is still open with them. So, I'm totally miffed as to why things should be taking so long....

I appreciate any feedback from you guys as to how i should progress.

    Many thanks in advance.

Given they're keeping you updated, I'd hang on in there.

I totally agree with hang on in there.

I just find it strange that when AMEX initially wrote to me inviting me to re-open the claim RE Plevin. that their investigations should take so long.

In their last letter dated December 17 they stipulate that i have the right to go to the FOS within 6 months of this dated letter, but their investigations are "still ongoing", so there's 3 months left before this timeline expires and with no further correspondence. I'm not entirely sure how the investigative delay could be so long, after all they have all of the required data from my account on file.

An automated letter sent to everyone who has complained about PPI and been rejected over at least the last 18 months. Followed by the bulk of those replying to them creating an almighty backlog coming in at once.

You have 6 months from their final response. You are not at the final response stage. However, the FOS is not required for Plevin refunds.

I'm not entirely sure how the investigative delay could be so long, after all they have all of the required data from my account on file.
You are not their sole customer.
