Premier Parking Solutions - schoolboy errors 1st Mar 18 at 2:40 PM
First off - I wish I had known of these forums a few months ago, but I didn't, so now I find myself in the situation I am in...

I realise I have done many things this forum advises you not to do, but again I was naive and didn't know any better. Now I do.

So in short, I received a PCN from PPS Ltd for parking in a permit holders bay. I genuinely did not notice the permit holder sign (which was in my opinion too high and not clear) and neither did my passenger. I paid the associated fee and thought nothing more of it until I returned to find the ticket stuck on the window.

I appealed through the IAS, and made what I now know to be a schoolboy error of claiming I was the driver at the time - yes I know I shouldn't have, but I did.

The IAS dismissed my claim without telling me so the first I knew was I have now received a letter from PPS telling me to pay up the full value of the charge or they will proceed with county court action, using the IAS decision to support this action.

I've read many of the threads on here and I know I need to ignore this and the several debt collector letters that are going to follow. I have also seen that I have a less than 1 in 1000 change of PPS taking me to court based on last years figures.

What I want to know however is have I already done the damage by contacting them and trying to explain myself, and also admitting that I was the driver. Is this likely to increase my chances of them taking me to court?

    Any advice appreciated...

    Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forum ...

can you please confirm that PPS are private parking solutions ?

there are other scam (Hansard) firms with similar names ...

when we know the correct name we can tell you the likelihood of court action ...

have a look at our MP's debating the 'cowboy industry' (Handard)

    and complain to your MP...

    good luck

    Nope, not with that bunch!
PRIVATE PCN? DON'T PAY BUT DO NOT IGNORE IT TWO Clicks needed for advice:
Top of the page: Home>>Forums>Household & Travel>Motoring>Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking - read the 'NEWBIES' FAQS thread!
Advice to ignore is WRONG, unless in Scotland/NI.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.
