Received fine too late 9th Feb 18 at 4:35 PM
    Hi guys, thanks for reading

I received a penalty charge notice from Ealing council by post today. Upon reading the letter I noticed the contravention occurred on the 14th of Jan but the date of notice was 26th. This means the 14 day period of writing an appeal and if rejected, being able to pay the discounted amount has ended.

I really want to appeal the fine because I believe I have a case. But knowing how easily councils have rejected my appeals in the past, Iím considering paying. But the discounted amount is 55 in comparison to 130 quid if I pay today.

I donít know why Iíve received this letter almost 3 weeks after it was dated, but have I got a leg to stand on here? Or should I just pay the 130? Seems ridiculous to me seeing as I should have 14 days from when I receive it.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Also wondering whether it!!!8217;s worth just calling them tomorrow and informing them I received the letter outside of the 14 day discounted period and to give me another 14 days?

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work) and post a new thread; here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.

We cannot provide you with a silver bullet to get you out of this. You have to be in for the long run, and need to involve yourself in research and work for you to get rid of this. It is not simple. We will help, but can't do it for you.

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
