Is this normal? 5th Feb 18 at 8:25 PM
I have a child trust fund which is due to mature when my son is 18 in a couple of months time, I've today received a call from a financial advisor from the company to arrange a time to see me and my son to "sign the form" to arrange the maturity of the fund , is it normal that they come round your house to do this and what form? all we want is for him to get his money on his 18th birthday and he can do with it what he wants, which is not to invest it further, i am worried this guy is coming round to sell us something ,it is with Forester Life , has anyone else had a fund that has matured and what happened? I just assumed it would be paid either to me or into my son's bank account direct , with no one coming round?

    thanks

In your place I would not sign anything, I!!!8217;d ask for a copy of the form and inform them that you need time to read it. I can!!!8217;t take in details when some shiney suited gentleman is pushing me to sign.

I don't know the exact arrangements for CTFs when a child reaches 18, but this does sound rather like he is coming to sell a product. I cannot believe that he is making the journey to your home just to get a signature on a piece of bureaucracy. The form could easily be posted and returned that way. As Banana Republic says, don't sign it, but instead ask to keep the form so that you can read it at your leisure and return to them likewise, then politely ask the salesman financial adviser to leave. Don't let him in to start his sales pitch: ask for the form and politely wish him a good day.

Thanks both, I did think it was really odd that he needed to visit , I may phone the company tomorrow to ask them about it? I really can't be doing with him coming round to try and sell something ! it's got me all stressed tonight.

You could phone them up, say you!!!8217;re really busy for the next few weeks/no time to see anyone and tell them to just post the form. If they still try to persuade you to see the person then you!!!8217;ll know 100% that they!!!8217;re trying to sell you something.
