Cutting Down Alcohol Thread 30th Jan 18 at 2:46 PM
    Hi Guys,

Sadly we lost our thread and I don't personally keep a private record of others AFDs so all data on the old thread is gone.

I've decided I'm going to bow out for a while as I'm actually pretty busy here in RL. And my life is about to get really hectic as I'm moving home....Also it will be hard to have challenges if data is getting lost. Sorry guys.

....It's been great...maybe I'll be back in a few months...

    Ta Ta For Now.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Thank you for the welcome and Baileys thank you for adding me to the list; I find it easier to stick to something when I'm accountable

Tomorrow night will be first big test, OH works away and comes home on a Thursday so we usually start the weekend early.

My plan is to move all booze to the garage so we don't have it within reach and it requires a conscious decision to get it.

    8/20 for me today.
I!!!8217;m so surprised and very pleased that I do not feel that I am missing drinking too much. Normally I would think nothing of having a few glasses of wine and then finishing the bottle but it is so nice to feel like I am in a bit more control.

Drink very little these days still. Getting on with finishing the house project and building a new career as well as looking after my son (and wife ), so not even sure I have time to drink anymore but was prompted to think about this thread earlier and thought I'd pop in to say hello again.

Hi - I'd like to join you if I may? I've dipped my toe in a few times before on this forum and done some dry Januarys but have made the decision to cut my drinking right down. Its just too easy to come home after work and relax with a glass of wine that turns into another glass etc but no more, it has to stop!!

So today is day 11 of being AF and I'm aiming to stay AF for the rest of the month.

    Hi Alex and Freysmum!

On the subject of OHs, my decision to know drinking on the head was one I knew I had to take but I also new I had to be okay with my OH drinking in front of me. He can hold his drink, I can't. However, because I don't drink at all it means I don't encourage him to drink (Oh go on then, let's open another bottle) and the result is that he generally stops after one glass most nights, instead of us drinking at least a bottle between us. After 20 years of not being able to sleep through the night, he's been able to for quite some time now. I don't think he'd ever go back to drinking as much as he did when I used to egg him on. Nothing stops him enjoying his beers when he watches his team in the pub, but he doesn't write himself off every weekend any more, in fact very, very rarely now.

As to AF beers, there is a school of thought that if you drink AF beer or wine, you're not really AF. I don't agree with that at all, obviously, but if you don't like the taste there's no point in drinking it. I kind of do, and it keeps me on the straight and narrow for nearly four years and that's all that matters to me.

    17/31 please, Baileys.

    Morning! 3/17 for me please

Interesting talk about OHs and their involvement, I am lucky we are both at the same stage with this, think I would struggle to commit by myself.
