AA Easy Saver

Hi everyone and happy new year!

Does anyone have any experience with the AA easy saver account? any horror stories or anything to consider? I'm just after a simple account with a reasonable interest rate to put my meagre savings in where I can access them as and when I need to.

thanks in advance chaps!

Hi we each opened one these accounts last week, it was easy to do and account was opened immediately, the AA sent out in the post our 6 digit log on numbers which only took a couple of days to arrive.

Did transfers on Sunday from Santander and TSB and payments didn`t arrive until today, must have just been a little glitch in the system as today have made another payment from Santander and it arrived in my account within an hour, so everything seems fine.
  • great thank you for your reply Katie's mum. Have you tried to move any money out of the account yet? was it a smooth transaction if so?
  • also should I be concerned that it's actually the bank of ireland UK and they have pretty terrible reviews?
  • Hi - just set one up last week. Set up process is quick and easy - though you need to wait for the post for the code to access your account online. However, made a CHAPS payment (as large amount) from RBS account (cost me £20) and it should have been same day. Not there today so phoned up to be told it can take a "few" days. However, transfer of £100 from same account (faster payment) took about an hour. Will let you know when the larger payment lands - and more importantly when it is credited (i.e. how much interest is lost). Not sure about withdrawals as haven't tried that yet.
  • thanks very much duncster, I would appreciate it if you keep me updated!

CHAPS is a same day, real time service as long as you instruct them in time, what time did you instruct them? Don't be fobbed off

Not tried to move any money out of the account, but would be interested to hear how others get on so I have an idea if its straightforward or not.

    Thank you
  • Does anyone have the address where I need to send certified documents in order to open this account? Although having read some of the reviews on here and the problems paying in and getting money out, I am starting to think the PO may be a better option with a slightly lower interest rate. Thank in advance

PO and AA are both reselling Bank of Ireland who do the actual work behind the scenes. Have been trying to get money out of my AA easy saver for weeks now. So very painful.
  • Thanks Alexland, I am having second thoughts about this account - if they can't even manage to tell people where to send documents in an automated email or give people their money then I am tempted to go with the Post Office
