    Fiscal Fast - Day 1

Every year, I think to myself, yes this year I would like to cut back financially but it's a bit like a diet, after a while bad habits creep in and before you know it..... you know where I'm at!

Well this year, my fiscal fast HAS to be until October as 2 of my gorgeous children are getting married and EVERY penny has to be a prisoner or earn it's keep!

So would you like to join me on this military style financial assault course?

    Stock Taking

My big weakness is stationery and beautiful paper - well having just re-organised my cupboard I don't NEED anymore.

I am going to make long lists of what I have in all my cupboards (especially food) and ONLY buy when I have run out and NOT when there is a good deal on.

No more window shopping - too much temptation!

I could go on and on but more tomorrow.

So, are you up for this ruthless challenge or would you just like to encourage me in my mission?

I had hoped to have a NSD but whilst shopping with my lady, I was stood at the Tesco fresh meat counter and they had the most gorgeous whole shoulder of lamb priced at 3.67 a kilo. It was very quickly snapped up and put in the freezer!

The entertainment budget is well and truly blown

Another meal out with family. I have spent more in the past week on going out than I have probably done in the past 6 months. Time to get a grip!

A work day but also a spend day but thankfully not too high.

I was very pleased to pick up some Evening Primrose Oil tabs RTC at Boots for a 1 and I also bought some RTC Easter eggs for my DD2 and DD3.

The hemorrhaging of money is starting to slow down

Our family have returned home now and we especially miss our DD2.

A LSD today just picking up a few bits for DD3 journey home

We just need to get back into a NON spending routine.

An absolutely awesome day in terms of buying to re-sell on ebay.

Whilst I am trying to save as much as possible by not spending, I am also trying to buy items to make a profit.

I LOVE going to car boot sales, table top sales, auctions and charity shops....it is a real passion and hobby of mine.

Today was one of the best table top sales we have ever been to, not many stalls but the quality of what they were selling for small amounts of money was incredible. We just need to photo and list all the items now (that's the boring bit!)

There was a real community atmosphere at the sale too as it was held in our artisan street which was closed off so not only were we able to stroll around at leisure looking at the tables but the shops were open too.
It was held in aid of 3 local charities and there was live music too....we certainly know how to have a good time down here in Cornwall

I am so very pleased with how quickly that we have been able to get back on track with our Fiscal Fast which proves that this is going to be a financial lifestyle change rather than a quick fix diet.

A visit to 2 branches of Bookers was rewarded with some AMAZING RTCs. I have two favourites, a 1kg of tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn sandwich filling for 49p and 2 packs of boneless chicken thigh meat, 5 kg in each pack reduced to 6.99 per pack but because we bought 2 packs a special offer still kicked in and we got 1 off each pack. Result!

We also visited Poundland and Home Bargains but we only bought what we had on our shopping list, We are at the stage where we know what is in our inventory, what we have run out of or very close to. Also knowing what brand we like and from what shop means that we are making the most of our spending.

A think today was a milestone as it showed us very clearly how far we have come

Our first car boot sale of the season as many had to be cancelled due to the amount of rain we have had done here.

A few bits to sell on ebay which need to be listed asap. We really do need a focused listing day

Just 2.99 spent today on a RTC stew pack, hot cross buns, a cucumber and six tins of baked beans. I am extremely happy with that

Right up until 6.30pm, I was rubbing my hands with glee at the thought of another NSD but then we decided to go to a talk on 'In search of tin'. As we live in a beautiful part of Cornwall with such a rich industrial history, this talk had been tempting me all week.
We weren't disappointed and for 6 a very enjoyable and informative evening was had by my hubby and I

We had a targeted shop at Sainsbury's for Nectar points. We spent about 16 but ended up with over 500 points. We used a few MOCs but we also used all our 'shrapnel' that we have thrown into a tin. We did have a few 1 coins and 50ps but the majority of the change was in 5ps. It was good to use them all up. Do you do similar with your small change? I just don't like a purse full of change!

I had a communal breakfast out in the morning with a ladies group and in the evening we went to a charity auction. We were successful in winning one lot, coffee that was lush and is for my husband's birthday.

We really do need to firmly shut the purse particularly on socialising which has been very expensive over the past few weeks.

Once the weather brightens up much of our entertaining will be either in the countryside or on the beach.

That said, today was a NSD

Three in a row - another NSD. I am SO pleased especially as it is my husband's birthday today.

We were very close to going out and celebrating but we have a special day planned on Sunday so we resisted. We kept our eye on the prize - our trip to NYC

We did however have a lovely walk on the beach with our hounds even though it was extremely mizzly (mist and drizzle)

Shopping in a main supermarket is getting very alien to us now.

Once again, we waited until we had a list of items to buy (thanks to JackieO) and we headed off to Bookers.

What a delight it is to shop there. No annoying music and free tea, coffee or hot chocolate from their machine

As always we headed to the RTC on each department and picked up the following all reduced - apples, oranges, tomatoes, milk, minced beef, celery, cabbage, mushrooms, carrots and mixed peppers.

We only paid full price for courgettes, muffins, pudding rice, mixed herbs, eggs and tinned tomatoes

Bookers has now been bought out by Tesco so I hope that things still stay the same - I would be SO if things changed for the worse!

There were just a few bits we couldn't get but my hubby raced into Lidl and picked those up in a matter of minutes.

    My ideal shopping day

Nearly forgot, I bought some birthday cards online that were on special offer & that I needed including some Quentin Blake ones. Also I renewed our yearly membership for Newlyn Filmhouse where watching a film is SO lush
