NatWest £125 switch incentive 10th Jan 18 at 1:56 PM
Just as I thought I'd exhausted every bank...up pops NatWest with a switch offer! £125 for switching, and no direct debits required. All you need to do is:
    • switch a non-NatWest account
    • deposit £1,500
    • log into online or mobile banking
All before 16 March (although you need to apply for the account by 16 February).

    Happy days!

As "by" and "before" are synonyms of each other, and one of the many definitions of "by" is "indicating a deadline or the end of a particular time period.", the two statements are clearly mutually exclusive.
Wat Nest making a mistake llike this, does just confirm my experince of then so far

My money is with eskbanker. "By 13/04" allows the payment to be made on the 13th whilst complying with the T&C's. "Before 13/04" means the account being closed on 12/04 or earlier.

Given that people would be free to close their accounts on 14/04 (arguably 13/04) I doubt NatWest will get too up tight if they make the payment on 13/04 and people close their account the same day, but personally I wouldn't take the risk as there is nothing lost in keeping the account (other than pride for those people who consider such things important).

Think I might be going mad...

I applied for a NatWest account a while ago through their website in order to do the switch. All fine except all the correspondence I received was from RBS and I now have an RBS card and have to login through the the RBS app.

I thought this might just be because im in Scotland but my girlfriend did the exact same thing and ended up with a NatWest account.

I spoke to very confused sounding NatWest advisor a while ago who unconvincingly told me I would still get the bonus but Iím not so sure. Has this happened to anyone else?

No ... what did the letter ask for?

The letter sent me to this link which explained it - anyway I wondered whether this was the start of them trying to worm out of paying the cash! As I have switched to Santander, Halifax, HSBC and now Natwest with no previous problems.

Agree with eachpenny and eskbanker on this. Payment will be made on 13th provided your account is open on 12th.

edit: looks like I was wrong - see post below!

Am I the only one who finds logging in at Nat West flaky? I have my details in front of me on an encrypted USB stick, but regularly my login details are not accepted and I am locked out until I answer some security details. Then I put the same details in and it works......eventually. No money in for me. Not expecting it until Friday tbh.

Except it appears the balance is only checked once per day for SMS alerts.
