Car accident a week before switching to new insurer 9th Jan 18 at 3:31 PM
I just wondered if anyone has any experience of the below.

I'm switching insurers soon and have already paid for my new policy (based on 5 years no claims) but have just had an accident.

Will this affect my new policy as I have already paid upfront for it or will I avoid any increase until next year?

You now need to inform your new insurer about this.

The premium you have paid is based on the information contained in your application which is no longer true

Thanks. I know I have to inform them but just wondered if I was okay for this year given that I've already paid.

At the time the new policy begins you have already had an accident. You will need to inform them and pay the increased premium as a result.

    Thanks very much.

Managed to get an amazing cheap renewal so I guess that's gone out the window now!!
