British gas new boiler- still not paid? 8th Jan 18 at 11:23 AM
Hi We took out a half price boiler with British gas last year which was fitted in November, we decided with them to make a £1,000 payment and have the remainder(£2,300) to pay monthly.

Before having this fitted we had to wait for them to do a credit check with barclays which came back fine.

In December we had not heard so I called British gas, they could see the payment of £1,000 and said they were waiting on Barclays sending over the money, I called Barclays as we wanted to know when we expected first payment and what date each month, who said they were waiting on British gas validating this(they didn't know we had had the boiler fitted yet), they said just wait till you receive an email/hear back.

Its now Jan and not heard anything and no one seems to be chasing up money.

Do as Andy suggests but keep a note of when you contacted them (date, time, whether it was by phone, e-mail or letter and the name of whoever you contacted if possible)

They have up to six years to collect, so you need to keep your records for at least as long

Only in the mad world of BG economics could £3,300 for a boiler and install be promoted as 'half price'. That's at least £1,000 more than a typical independent would have charged you, without interest.
You are under no obligation to pay until BG bill you.

Two years ago I got gas central heating and 7 radiators in to replace storage heaters.

BG wanted 6800 if I signed up for the special price then and there.
A local independent quoted me 4.2k (and could go less if I paid cash directly to the installers)
Another local independent came to 3.3k.
I went with the 4th quote at 2.2k - 1/3rd the price of GB
