My Over 50's Spending Diary 4th Jan 18 at 10:45 AM
I have been with MSE a number of years and each year I have become better and better at making sure that I spend my money wisely. I find that recording the savings I am making no matter how small reminds me that if I take care of the pennies the pounds will take care of themselves.

    Littlewoods Clearance bargains via eBay:

    1. V By Very Chambray Men's shorts 3.99 saved 21.01

    2. Reebok Supremium Ladies Black T-shirt 4.99 saved 17.01

    3. V By Very Black Ruffle Jumper 7.99 saved 30.01

    4. V By Very Black/cream High Neck Striped Jumper 5.99 saved 26.01

    5. V By Very Men's Navy Woven Jogger Shorts 4.99 saved 27.01

Revolution Super Light 4 Wheeled Suitcase from Tesco Direct which was half price in the Sale so I saved 22.50 and I got free delivery worth 3 because I have a Delivery Saver Mid Week Plan and I had spent over 10 on my order

Yes Chanie, it is. I find that I make more effort to try to locate the items that I need or want at the cheapest prices that I can.

I am buying lots of items in Lidl now, as they are much better value, but I have to carry bags of shopping which does not help my Arthritis but from a financial point is really necessary.

I still do my weekly grocery shopping online with Tesco and I will continue to go to Poundland, but mostly I will buy the items I would normally buy in Poundland from Lidl where I can to save money, even if it is pennies.

We have been doing our main shop in Lidl for years now. When we started going, our local store was pretty quiet so we didnt mind going. Now, our local store is heaving, so we have to put up with car parks that you cant even get into, tiny aisles that are packed full of people and lots of items out of stock.

We love the Lidl biscuits too and prefer them to the named brands.

Hi Chanie, it must be so frustrating when items that you want are out of stock in your chosen Lidl. I would love to swap completely to Lidl but it is not practical for me as a non driver and they do not do deliveries. I go to either the one in Streatham when I am going to the cinema or I go to the one in Peckham as both are easy access for me by bus.

Lidl are taking over the world, so it wont be long before your neighbours home is turned into a Lidl. Im being serious. I have 3 Lidls on one road and another two stores being built.

Have you tried, Aldi? There is one in Streatham (used to be Morrisons) and I would recommend giving it a go. Personally, I think that Aldi has a wider range of goods, but Lidl does some products really, really well.

Although Lidl was bare, we should be okay for food this week as we have recently stocked up in Iceland and Costco.
