    Good Morning,

Thanks for kind words about mum. She was diagnosed about 8 years ago with mild cognitive disorder and has gradually got a bit worse. She tends to lose and forget a few things and occaisonally repeats herself but is ok otherwise so if tablets can keep her stable she should be ok. I think she is probably lucky to be given them fairly early. She had problems with her hearing aids and the Dr was Indian so I think she came across worse than she is! She is 77 and dad is 84 and they have their fair share of health problems. Lots of people are a lot worse though.

Hope you get your trees Alfie.

Glad one of your hedgehogs has appeared FF, hope the other one is ok too.

Never been to Dover Castle leanfun. Only been to Kent once when my sister lived near Ashford. We were impressed with Caernarfon Castle last week although I think I preferred Conwy one.

Forgot to say, all our Forsythia is blooming away now. We have bluebells appearing too so hopefully will have a nice show of them later.

Must get on. Good luck all.

I am hoping to get a few comps done this afternoon. Good Luck all x

Hi I Love comps. Sorry to hear about your mom. I think this must be one of the most upsetting diseases ever for the person and their families.

    Good luck with your comping.

Misty start to the day here and looks like it will stay cloudy.
There is plenty of weeding to be done in the garden so hope at least it stays dry. Don't think our area is going to get much of the good weather that is forecast for next week. Tempted to head of to a different area but we have a couple of breaks already booked soon and then DS1 and gf will be here so had better sort out the garden.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.

    Good morning everyone

I hope you're all in fine fettle today!

It's a misty start to the day here too sheils. Think we're
due sunshine once the mist has disappeared. May go out &
do a bit of gardening myself. We've rainy spells predicted
for tomorrow before the warm spell next week.

    It's Cuckoo Day today!

An old English saying says: “The cuckoo sings from St Tiburtius’s
Day to St John’s day [June 24]”. Hence today is sometimes
celebrated as Cuckoo Day in England Although strongly identified
with St Tiburtius’s Day, Cuckoo Day may better be described as a
moveable feast dependent upon the variability of Nature. The
common cuckoo, Cuculus canorus, overwinters in Africa and
returns to the UK in Spring, but the arrival date varies. Several
communities in England, notably Marsden in Yorkshire, have
cuckoo fairs in April to welcome spring. Marsden Cuckoo Festival
takes place each year on a designated Saturday in April near to 14
    April.
    **

Legend has it that the people of Marsden were aware that when
the cuckoo arrived, so did the Spring and sunshine. They tried to
keep Spring forever, by building a tower around the cuckoo.
Unfortunately, as the last stones were about to be laid, the cuckoo
flew away. As the legend says, it “were nobbut just wun course too low.”

** In 2018 it will be on Saturday April 21st.

And if you're not into the Grand National (I watched it once
never again! ) maybe the following would be more your type
    of thing!

    Bideford Sheep Grand National

Where: The Big Sheep near Bideford, Devon
When: Saturday in early April (usually Grand National Day)

If you’re bored with the gee-gees you might consider watching the
Sheep Grand National instead of the conventional horse race on
    the same day.

It takes place each April at the Big Sheep visitor centre near
Bideford and the field consists of half a dozen sheep with knitted
jockeys who race over a 250 yard course with various themed
obstacles. Expect a well-dressed crowd, real betting and much
    hilarity.

    Helpful Hints

The Big Sheep is an ovine theme park with family friendly
attractions (see website link below). There are daily sheep races at
the park from March to October (see their website for details).

In 2018 it will be held on Saturday April 14th (the same day as the
    horsy version at Aintree).

Click here for the venue’s website: http://www.thebigsheep.co.uk/

    http://calendarcustoms.com/articles/sheep-grand-national/

BIG SHEEP GRAND NATIONAL (14TH APR )

A highlight in our sheep race calendar. While many racers are
    competing in the British Grand National our favourite competiters;
Red Ram, Wooly Jumper and Little Pullover to name a few will be
battling out for the 2018 Practical Cup.

The 6 sheep and their jockeys have been in secret training for
almost six months and the Sheepstakes promises to have all the
pace, excitment and adrenaline rush watching the Grand National
    live!

We hold our normal sheep races every day at 3:50pm.

    http://www.thebigsheep.co.uk/events/details/big-sheep-grand-national-2

Have a lovely & lucky day all and please take care whatever
    your plans.

Edit: Only just read your post fire**fly - have a lovely day
    in the sunshine! xx

Great to have sunshine Firefly. We too woke up to brilliant sunshine.

Good luck with the gardening Sheils.

Hope sun comes out for you Alfie. Thanks for all the info and links. Grand National is about the only race we take notice of.

I hope to go off to the shops today would like to buy a new jacket. Have seen some online but no clue what they would look like on.

Mummy2threeboys hope you have the sunshine too and are able to go out before school next week.

Just looked at comps and had a laugh about the comments on this one.

Morning all , perfect here. All housework done , quick comp catch up and then off to the uni in Canterbury ad taking the kids to ID a couple of old skeletons..(Roman and Anglo-Saxon (well They have already been ID but the others don't know that lol) Plus I have a clay pipe that we found which is odd as they maker never stamped them apparently..and mine has their stamp on it!
Gardening tomorrow if weather stays nice.
Hubby sick again, he's never ill, think he's suffering from stress and depression he's my rock so it's a tad worrying.
Clothes that i order from a win showed up..only ordered them 2 days ago! They are stunning!

Used to bet on the nationals until I saw all that death sheep racing sounds nicer and silly. I was a young farmer and recall my friend getting stuck on top of a run away sheep once lol.

Sheils and ilovecomps. I'm so sorry about your mummys, it is an awful problem. I used to work in care and seen the other side , it's heart breaking for all involved , i'm sorry xx

FF my DS1 and gf not coming until 15th May, meant we had 2 breaks and then they would be here for holiday.

Nearly went to see the sheep racing when we were down in Devon many years ago Alfie. Think some people were trying to get it stopped last year.

Not entering the cruise comp leanfun. Never really fancied a cruise but would risk 2 weeks if had a top cabin!

Hope your DH is better soon mummy2 and hope you like your clothes.

Not done anything yet as was trying to book a spa morning (won in Oct) It is 2hrs away so was trying to book it on way away somewhere else as it is from 9am - 1pm including lunch. Fully booked on morning I want. Will have to leave it until July/August I think. Must get on now!

    Good morning everyone

I had a wonderful day yesterday, weather was glorious
and managed to do a fair bit of gardening!
    Happy days!

Looks to be the same today - I'm off out this morning to
pick up a kitchen ceiling light & also outside security lamps
    to replace my ancient models.

I've got security lights at the front of my house and at
the back - very handy in the darker evenings and also
as a deterrent, they flick on in an instant! Found an
    image of one .....

Used click & collect to buy them - getting very with
    it!

I'm actually collecting them from a store out Lymington
way so will enjoy the journey through the forest and may
well stop at my favourite garden centre on the way back
for a cuppa and a slice of cake.

Hope you managed to find a nice jacket yesterday leanfun.
I thought the comments re the cruise comp were
hilarious too, and like mummy2 loved the 'Pity it's not
    transferable' one!

How was your trip yesterday mummy2 - it all sounds so
interesting. Hope you manage to get out gardening
today. So sorry to hear that your husband has not been
himself (health wise) of late. Hope each day finds him
feeling a little stronger. Sending big (((hugs))) to all. xxx
Brilliant that your clothes win arrived so promptly, they
    sounded amazing!

Well had best get on - must remember to do comp catch
    up at some point today!

Have a lovely day all and please take care whatever
    your plans.

Nice and sunny here at moment but rain due in afternoon. Nice weather not supposed to get here until Thursday I think - we are due rain and dreadful winds before that! Yesterday turned out nice though and we got a bit of gardening done. Was sitting out on garden wall chatting with some female neighbours by 4pm , we don't catch up often enough as we are all keen on breaks in our bit of the street.

    The lights sound handy Alfie.

Managed to book our Spa morning for a Monday in July, going to stay at a Premier Inn in Cockermouth on the Sunday night so we can get there for 9am easier. Will also mean we can visit some lakes on the Sunday and I got a good price of £34 which is ok for summer.
Must get on as want to get a bit more done in garden before the rain comes.

    Morning Everyone,

Yesterday managed to do some gardening at moms house. I have decided I will put on the market some time in June , it has to be sold to pay her Nursing Home Fees.

Comping news - Had my £50 cheque from the Doritos promotion .

If you won a Joe mug from the kit kat promotion then some of the mugs had a fault in them, and they are advising everyone to not use them and a replacement is being sent out. I had my email , which also had a coupon for £3 worth of nestle chocolate. So on the way to my moms I stocked up with chocolate and two free packets of crisps which I had won from the promotion too.

Hope you all have a good Sunday x

Morning, just been reading back as have the time today. No work...yay. Sorry to hear about your mum sheils, when you go for POA, Make sure you have all the details as down here you have to have 2. 1 for money, and the other for assets. I Llove comps, check with your solicitor/local council ref paying the home fees as some people with dementia get free care. I work with dementia.nursing and know a lot of families don't realise till it's too late. I have a lady in the home who's mother and father were in the same home and she has just been repayed thousands for her mother as she was paying fees when she didn't have to.
I came home friday to a mag daily win from Country living, Many thanks to ff for posting the comp have won 2 Nights B&B at Murrayshall Hotel in Scone. Just waiting for the details to come through now, as hoping to treat my son and his GF to the trip. Right time to get out front in the garden and do some weeding. Well done on wins I Love Comps. Great to have a money cheque. Upsetting having to decide to sell your mother house but good you are planning for it.

Indie great you have day off. Congratulations on win. It could be a good break for your DS and Gf. Schools back on Monday hope family are ok.

Alfie lights sound good. You are certainly with it. Do hope you stop for the coffee and cake and the weather is good for your trip.

Sheils pleased you have booked your soar ( edited spar) treatment. I too have never fancied a cruise. I have entered for some three day or one week cruise comps. DH has been on one before we were married and would not mind going on one again. We have friends who live near Southampton who are able to pick up bargain prices. on cruises and are always asking us to go with them. We have been in Madeira several times when they came in on a cruise. In fact I have watched so many people come in on cruises and so little time there that has put me off and all the queuing.

Mummy2threeboys hope you had a great day in Canterbury one of my favourite places. Sorry to hear your DH has not been feeling good. This winter has been really long. Our DD1 had a cold for weeks and although better still says she does not feel great. Hope you enjoy wearing your new clothes.

Firefly hope weather is good for you to go out in garden.

Reminds me no success with new jacket yesterday. A friend suggested I bought one of the new fold up bubble jackets. Either the colour or size was wrong and I tried in a lot. Came back tired out. Felt my age in M&S in the lingerie section it was overwhelming but eventually found what I was looking for.

Had GS here last night DD1 went out and then came back here. They have gone home early.

Have a good Sunday all especially

Sylvia Happy Birthday. Enjoy your day with family.

Happy birthday Sylvia. Hope you have a lovely day.
I Love comps, i can't remember what it is called now but it's not something they make known. They hope people don't find out about it. I will try and find out what it is called when at work next week.
Sheils, can't remember what the comp said now and it is a long way. That is why i am waiting to see what the details are when they come through.
Leanfun, family are ok thanks. Took nephew to Dr's last thursday and he was in there an hour doing all kinds of hand and arm tests then eyesight tests ect. He was passed fit to drive so no more school runs for me till he needs me again.
