Fresh Starts and New Chances... 31st Dec 17 at 9:22 PM
Hi everyone and Happy New Year

I'm an oldie and regular on this board, but seem to start new diaries all the time and then just tail off and stop posting. Naughty me, this must stop.

I had a lovely Christmas and one of the gifts I received was a diary (the kind you use to organise your life, not the kind you reveal your deepest thoughts in) and on the front it says "Fresh Starts and New Chances". When I read that, I knew that had to be the title of my next diary on here.

I'm not going to go on about my past or anything about me just yet. Regulars on here will know me pretty well (you know who you are ) and I'm sure any newbies will get to know me as time goes by.

I want this to be a positive diary. I'm going to post on here every day (I'm really going to try - promise!!) and let you know what positive things have happened, any obstacles I need to overcome and a to-do list for the following day.

2018 is the year I'm going to get organised!! No more procrastination and no more excuses!!

Have a good evening everyone!! I'm just sat in with my mum (who would be on her own otherwise), but at least I'm not out wasting money.

    See you all tomorrow.

Well, well, well. Been to the hospital and my iron levels are very low. An injection and a prescription have been given to me, as well as a sick note for 2 weeks. No wonder I've been feeling rubbish!!

I've dropped the 260 round to my ex-friend's house. I've had confirmation she's received it, as well as a message saying she'll need the balance by the end of April. Haven't bothered replying, as I'll have it paid off by the 6th April anyway. Bit out of order considering her original timeframe was by the beginning of June.

So my to-do list looks like this:
    1. Meet Swagbucks target every day (4/7)
    2. Do 5 articles on Textbroker (0/5) - Still haven't written that article
    3. Get to 40 on Onepoll (only 10p away) - So close!!Done and my 40 is on the way
    4. Read 10 chapters of my book (1/10)
    5. Watch 11 movies (5/11)
    6. Do 5 hours cross stitch on a bookmark for my mum (0/5)
    7. Thoroughly clean out the en-suite
    8. Pay another 260 off the debt to my ex-friend, leaving 640 left to pay. Done - 2 payments to go

The snow has reached my part of the world. Luckily I've just been sat indoors all day. OH ventured into work and hasn't made it back yet. Don't think he'll be able to go in tomorrow.

Another day snowed in (well, not that bad, but there's no way I would drive in it). OH stayed home today, so we've just been pottering round the house. Supposed to rain tomorrow, and be slightly warmer, so I'm hoping it will melt some of the snow.

I got my Prolific payment and my 5 M&S voucher, so will use that for some food (when we can get to the shops). I'm also nearly at a 10 payout on Panelbase (just waiting for a survey to clear before I can claim) and I got the 20 Amazon voucher I was waiting for.

Not bad, 6 out of 8 things done.

I didn't have the energy to clean the en-suite. Might persevere with that one next week. I'm going to ditch Textbroker though, I just can't summon up the enthusiasm to do it.

    Money made/claimed this week:

    Prolific cash - 13.18 (received)
    Amazon vouchers - 22 (received)
    M&S voucher - 5 (received)
    Onepoll cash - 40 (pending)

    Total - 80.18

A good week. I'll post next week's list shortly.

    W/C 4th March:
    1. Meet Swagbucks target every day (0/7)
    2. Watch 7 movies (0/7)
    3. Finish my book
    4. Give myself a pedicure
    5. Clean out the en-suite
    6. Work on the cross-stitch every day (0/7)
    7. Enter 700 competitions (0/700)
    8. Iron OH's shirts whilst he's away
I want to try and enter some competitions again. I'm going to keep going with the surveys to get the money in, but will try and enter 100 competitions a day.

OH is away for work Sunday-Tuesday, so I want to iron his shirts as a surprise. I don't do it for him as a rule, and he hates doing them, so he'll be pleased to not have that job when he gets back.

Got myself a free meal for during the week thanks to my mum (home-made cottage pie ). Good job too as OH had to take some money with him for meals whilst he's away with work (he can claim it back), which has left us short. I'm trying to eek out the petrol (80 miles) and have got enough food to keep me going. We both get paid on Friday, thank goodness.

Doesn't feel like I've done much today. I spent all morning at the hospital. As a result, I've nearly finished my book. Did OH's ironing this afternoon, which took me a while (not exactly a skilled ironer!!).

I have got another 2 5 M&S vouchers on the way (Swagbucks and My Survey).

Couple more things crossed off. Haven't worked on my cross stitch for a couple of days, so need to do a good couple of hours on it tomorrow to catch up.

Not really got the enthusiasm for competitions either.

Did claim 10.05 on Panelbase though

Bit of a wasted day. Been feeling rubbish, so haven't done all that much.

I have however managed to do 9.20 worth of Prolific surveys today. I'll wait for the 20 mark this time as we both get paid on Friday, so can afford to wait now. 15.66 cleared and pending, so not far to go.

Thought it was time for an update. I really need to stop going for these long periods without posting on here.

Things are quite good at the moment. I'm back to work and my health is holding up. I'm still pretty tired, but I always tend to feel that way, plus I'm staying away from any overtime.

I've paid back my cow of an ex-friend. It was a lovely feeling to get her out of my life. Fingers crossed I never have to see or hear from her again.

Another debt has replaced that one though. Some council tax arrears from 2014/15. I thought we had paid back all of the arrears, but clearly not. I did check with the council and they are still outstanding. The total amount is 2,231. It was quite a shock to see that come through the letterbox. They're letting me pay back in 10 instalments of 223 a month, and I've already made 3 payments, so there's 1,562 left to pay.

I guess the way to avoid this is paying bills on time, which I'm making sure is happening now. No more arrears for us in the future.

We went to Munich at the end of last month for a few days, with OH's parents. Me going was a waste of time and money to be honest. It was all for his parents and I wasn't interested in anything we did. I was pretty much bored the whole time. Will definitely give it a miss next time and let them go on their own. It had been booked for quite a while, so I couldn't get out of going.

We're doing pretty well money wise this month, and that's with keeping up all of the bill payments, paying off that debt and paying towards the council tax arrears. It's a welcome change not to have to worry about money, or put off this bill or that payment until next payday etc. I'm being more organised in this respect and have got everything going in and coming out written down. I then just cross things off as they get paid etc. I can then see how much we've got left over until next payday.

I want to try and get back to earning some extra, even though we're doing okay without it at the moment. Every bit extra can go towards clearing off another pesky debt. Finally reached 50 on New Vista, so that cheque should come through some time in May.
