Holiday Inn / Parking Eye 18th Dec 17 at 7:35 PM
    Hi, some advice please.
Just received what purports to be a PCN from Parking Eye. 100 (reduceable to 60 for prompt payment) for parking in a Holiday Inn car park for 40 minutes during a brief business meeting.
I arrived and left at night time, no warning signs were noticeable.
Should I ignore or should I appeal? Should I complain to the hotel?
I'm uncertain which approach to take.

    thanks

do not ignore (unless you want a court case ?)

IGNORE has not been correct since oct 2012

    definitely complain to the landowner

and appeal by reading the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread near the top of this forum

Private Parking ticket? check the 2 sticky threads by coupon-mad and crabman in the Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking Board forum for the latest advice or maybe try pepipoo or C.A.G. or legal beagles forums if you need legal advice as well because this parking forum is not about debt collectors or legal matters per se

Yes, PE do seem to infest rather a lot of Holiday Inn car parks. When my wife fell foul of them, and after the hotel themselves were utterly unhelpful (just spouting the nonsense PE had told them to), my very robust letter to the hotel was forwarded to PE, and had them cancel the ticket.

See this thread, post #3 for that letter: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5623306

If you want to reuse any of it (but do start with a more level-headed appeal to the hotel), make sure it is relevant to your own circumstances, e.g. if there are parts of the car park where you can't see the signs, and check if there is planning permission for the signage.

    Hi Slithy/all

Just had this myself, I was dropping my wife off at a holiday inn (Eastleigh, Southampton) at a booked conference in the hotel. I pulled over in the car park as we were early and she waited in the car with me for 20 mins before entering the building. Neither of us saw signs but my wife did notice a booking in machine in the hotel. My wife asked the receptionist if she needed to book the vehicle in but was advised not to due to the car not being parked outside and the fact she had just been dropped off. My wife even clarified this with the conference organiser. I explained all of this to Parking Eye but of course they would never see common sense (even though their website states that this exactly what they do) because common sense will put them out of business.

I am now at the stage where I have to appeal to POPLA. I don't live close enough to the hotel to go down taking pictures or checking signage, but thought I would take your advice and check for planning permission for their signs and cctv. The cctv they have only shows what time i entered and left, it doesn't show what happened in the car park. I can't seem to find anything on the Southampton City Council website under 'Parking Eye' but wondered what search and search terms you used to find out the relevant info?

    Many thanks

    DD

You need to start your own thread

Not hijack someone else's like this.

The OP never returned anyway so is unlikely to see your post

Read up in the Newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum on this - especially complaints to the retailer which you don't mention having done!

DOGGY, edit or delete the text of your post. You have given far too much information away. Never ever reveal who was driving, not even on here.

Delete it, read the NEWBIES, then start your own thread.
