    Refund from Gala Hotels

Refund from Gala Hotels 6th Dec 17 at 7:12 PM
I recently booked and then cancelled a hotel though the Gala Hotels website. The booking was fully refundable. I have contacted them several times but still have not received the refund. Can anyone advise me how to recover my money from Gala Hotels? Would it be worth contacting Trading Standards?
    Thank you
    Stewart

    How did you pay ?
Can people stop loaning money/being a guarator to family/friends, it rarely ends well and you lose out as your money is gone or you get shafted with being a guarantor.

    Their Ts and Cs state:

"Refund is made in 21 business days to the credit card that was used in the reservation."

Also looks like a non UK company so not sure on their consumer laws.

So yea, refund should be in by either:

    7th December (21 days)
    15th December (21 working days)

They are are Turkish owned and base business. In a nut shell you would have a struggle with upholding any !!!8216;consumer rights!!!8217;. I hope you get your refund but suggest in the future you are more careful on who you book with.

As per my post on 6th December, their Ts and Cs state 21 business days....

My calculations place that at 15th December.

So yea, I'll probably be proven wrong on Friday but you never know!!

Well not surprisingly, the refund didnt materialise by the 15th. In general correspondence Gala Hotels insist that the refund was "approved" on 8th December so they suggest that I contact my bank. Its now 20th December and still no refund. Perhaps they have strapped the cash to the back of a pigeon and sent it because it certainly isnt being refunded to my card.

Have you tried contacting the bank? MAYBE they are telling the truth...?

You could also maybe ask for a payment reference number from the company which will allow the bank to locate the refund.

    Gala hotels
Do not use GALA Hotels -Booked as hotel cheaper than other online companies. Called hotel after a week and they had not received our names. Got a feeling something dodgy about them so cancelled. They have a 21business day refund policy which is too long, but its in their terms and conditions, they were late refunding by 2 weeks, even though I wrote and called. Their excuse was it was their bank which is so obviously a lie - nowadays a refund is as easy as a charge to make on electronic card machines. Only got a refund, the next day, when I pointed out they were breaking Turkish law. The amount was about GBP1100 so not insubstancial.

please use this if it helps you get a refund.
"You have, by not refunding my money in the 21 business days that you state in your conditions, breaking the law in Turkey as by your failure to refund the money in the time stated by you means you have amended the terms and conditions.

"Terms and conditions of a consumer contract cannot be amended to the disadvantage of the consumer during its term."

you have the legal obligation to complete the refund IMMEDIATELY as you are breaking Turkish Law.
The Law on Consumer Protection numbered 4077 (the "Former Law") has been replaced by the new Law on Consumer Protection numbered 6502 (the "New Law") which was published in the Official Gazette on November 28, 2013 and entered into force on May 28, 2014."

    good luck
