    Vets bill eek!1 6th Dec 17 at 12:26 PM
We took our elderly cat to a local vet for an out of hours panic ,,
They kept him in over night andwe picked him up the folllowing morning.

Asked how much and paid off the 200+ pounds ( arrgh!!) on my Debit card.

Now a week later just got an invoice from them asking for more money as they say ?? they missed off something .

It this extra charge onto top of the original exorbitant amount allowed /enforcible ?

    ta

What was the something they missed off?

Did you receive what it is they say you didn't pay for?

So you receive the overnight stay, and have not paid for it.

Therefore you have to pay for it, they have 6 years to chase you for a debt and they were able to provide the service for your cat so even if you weren't legally liable, morally you certainly are.

OOH services for something like a vet is never going to be cheap at all.

A 200 vet bill isn't exorbitant. Sis-in-laws bill was 7k+ for treatment for her dog and this was 14 years ago. The dog died less than year later.

Afraid it is for you to pay, if they say it is for an overnight stay and wasn't included in the original bill. Mistakes happen! Just check the original bill that you have paid to ensure this wasn't included on it.

Do you have pet insurance? Can they help with the costs?

You should be given a detailed invoice. If you were not given one you can ask for one.

The OP doesn't want our thoughts or doesn't like them enough to log on and reply.

Just to add that my vets who are a vets4pets but not in a pah store, are open 24/7 365 days a year same price and same staff
They just have night shift and day shifts.
I know my vets was one of the first to trial this two years ago but there's more now so for anyone in future looking for a 24/7 service I would check out your local vets4pets

I do know some are very good like mine and some are not so good but it's down to who runs it
Mine is separate entity from pah and has an owner under vets4pets franchise but it's 100% a vets4pets

One of my rescue rabbits went in last night for overnight spay. Drop off at convenient evening time and pick up whenever next day or evening
It's fabulous service and price is similar to other vets round here!

Regarding OP I think I would be bit miffed too. Maybe ask to set up a payment plan as you wasn't aware at the time of this additional cost
You paid what you were told too so I think they need to give you leeway here tbh.

That's quite cheap for keeping overnight. Ours was 140 ish just to walk in the door last we used it, any treatment, tests or being kept in on top of that. I wouldn't have been shocked at that plus another few hundred for tests and overnight care.

You used the service, so you can't argue the fee is unfair just because it has been billed in two parts. It would only be unfair if you asked the costs upfront and they told you a different amount to how much they asked for afterwards for the same treatment.

Most vets are pretty good at giving your estimates and options for budgets if you ask.
