Help re Car Loan 6th Dec 17 at 10:00 AM
The only debt we have is a car from Vauxhall Finance, in my husband's name. If he dies before the end of the repayment term then can they come after me for payment? We have a joint bank acc but the car is in his name only. I would be left on basic pension plus pension credit - so no spare money available at all. I am not sure if this is a personal loan or HP though.

The debt is in his name, so would be settled from his estate. You wold have no personal liability.

TY zx81. So his estate would mean that I could sell his M/C to settle the debt ? And they would wait for that? And thank you.

By M/C, do you mean the car? Possibly, but it may be that Vauxhall would simply take it back. Given the circumstances, that may be the end of the matter.

They will wait a reasonable amount of time - they would just need to be told that they will be paid once the estate is settled, if there is sufficient remaining.

Your executor/solicitor would help you with the process.
