    The "Save 12k in 2018" Thread! 5th Dec 17 at 9:10 PM
So, the title is pretty self explanatory, but this is the place to be in 2018 it's that time of year, again!

In 2018, the aim is to save 12k (or, any other amount if you like) from 1st January 2018 til 31st December 2018. I know it's early, but it gives you the time to plan for how you are going to do it.

    - Everything saved MUST be done between these two dates.
    - Any interest gained during this challenge on your savings can be counted!

    For June

It's not a fortune but it's something ~ and I'm now 2/3 of the way to target!

Next month should be better as DH has a permanent job for 2 days a week on top of his S/E work. It'll be nice to have regular money after all this time.

    Hi Everyone

    Halfway through 2018 already!

We had a few extra expenses this month: had to invest in a new lawn-mower as the old one finally gave up on me, and for similar reasons new reading glasses. Plus some other patio/garden bits & pieces to keep on top of that. An evening at the theatre. And the spreadsheet shows a huge amount spent on petrol - not sure why that is.
We also booked a holiday in the Canaries for September (although if the weather keeps on like this, may as well just stay in the UK!).
So No. 0002 declaring 1281.26 for June, making a total of 12481.02 (52% of target) at the midway point in the year.

    And 18 paydays until FIRE.

    Happy with that.

    Happy saving everyone.

hi all, no. 15 here declaring savings of 1,880.71 for June, bringing my yearly result so far to 3,428.97. To be perfectly honest I wasn't expecting such a great result as I've had another (inadvertently) expensive month with vet bills and other costly outlays (plumbing for instance). I'm not where I should be at this point in the year, but will keep forging ahead with the challenge as things may improve in the second half of the year.

This is #31 here reporting 1751.09 for March and 2598.59 combined for April and May. Not great numbers. But huge expense paying home office to sort out my papers. All that done and dusted, I can focus on some serious savings now!

Another 500 into the savings coffers here (form already updated).

Thank goodness for savings. Our local Homebase is closing down and we put together a list of everything we would need for projects over the next couple of years and then went shopping. Overall got about 55% off the materials we would have bought so I'm quite chuffed

My firm then announced a bonus to be paid next month, so that will top the savings back up.

However, I still haven't tidied up all those little bits of money here and there at the bottom of accounts or checked how much interest we've been receiving. Just never seems to be enough hours in the day.

#119 reporting 432.63 for June. I was expecting a minus figure for this month, as I had a whacking credit card bill to settle for my Coast to Coast spending, and my MOT was due. Thankfully got through the MOT for 160 and my wife got a tax rebate, so happy days! Way behind on my total now after a couple of poor months, but hoping to catch up a fair bit in the second half of the year.

500 going away for June. Being sensible and not maxing ourselves out like planned as our mot got moved to next week so cautiously waiting to see what that costs. Also need to book airport parking for August so still happy with 500 for June!

    #20 checking in for June.

Managed some extra income out of a temporary flatmate which alongside low expenses made for a pretty good June with 1760 saved. I think I have my expenses fairly well optimised now so there shouldn't be too many surprises in the next few months, just some holidays coming up and costs associated with them, but otherwise well on target

Slowlyfading - I have a small suggestion I was hoping you could consider. Would it be possible to add an 'Monthly average' amount for each saver? I would be happy to help if it would make it easier, I'm sure there is a formula that would make it automatic (so you don't have you constantly fiddle around with it).

    # 87 declaring 350 for June and 225 for July. I have had a weekend away and have also decided to scale back the amount of monthly savings from now on, to use the difference for forthcoming trips and a holiday. Life is for living, after all. As long as I keep saving at least 200 per month, I will be happy. :-)
