    The "Save 12k in 2018" Thread! 5th Dec 17 at 9:10 PM
So, the title is pretty self explanatory, but this is the place to be in 2018 it's that time of year, again!

In 2018, the aim is to save 12k (or, any other amount if you like) from 1st January 2018 til 31st December 2018. I know it's early, but it gives you the time to plan for how you are going to do it.

    - Everything saved MUST be done between these two dates.

#11 with 4,938.76 for February - couldn't quite reach 5k in the month, but one of my best savings months ever, I think.

Total of 7,252.76 for the year to date and March has started well too, but I think Spring will be tougher going so nice to get off to a good start - usually i'm playing catch-up later in the year.

Saved 253.35 in Feb, total saved 2225.04 .
Due to taking my AVC savings from the account value instead of just contributions the amount varies dependent on vagaries of the stock market. This should make for an interesting journey but should balance out over time.

Just done all my accounts up to date for February so I can now update my total!

900 went into savings accounts at end of the month, another 20 of interest, small amount of cashback and 1p a day savings, another 6 from selling and 40 from shopping savings.

Brings me to a total of 2561.36 year to date so happy with that!

    Will update spreadsheet shortly x

I've updated early for March as any extra savings this month will go into my rainy day funds. I didn't bank anything for this challenge in February due to my regular savings ending and I wanted to set the new ones up for the beginning of March so they're easier to manage, but I did start 2 new ones up meaning I've saved 500 for the challenge this month.

    I've submitted the update form

Apologies all for having been MIA for a few months. It's been nuts. I ended the year with 9564GBP instead of 15k (BOO!).

However, a pay rise + a nice bonus payment will help this year hopefully. So I have quite ambitious goals. I'll be joining the challenge if ok too?

Can I be put down for 20k this year please?

    THANK YOU!!

February - MINUS 1373.37 This is due to a lot of expenses (had to rebook some flights that got cancelled and wait for a refund, new deposit for the new rental without getting our old deposit back yet etc.!! Such an expensive month....)

March is going better so far however I've not paid rent yet and I have a holiday to Australia coming up in the first few weeks of April so hopefully I can save some pennies by the end of the month!!

I'm determined to be more savvy for the rest of the year. We're not going on any more holidays abroad and my outgoings are now higher due to paying more rent which should make me value every penny again as I've gotten very slack over the last 6 months or so..onward and upwards!
