Hugglemonster's homemade happiness diary 3rd Dec 17 at 1:27 PM
A new diary for a renewed enthusiasm for clearing the debt, reducing the mortgage and getting my home finished instead of the shambles it's in.

I have a few bits of debt left after a nice lump sum from my in-laws cleared the main overdraft these are:
    * Hally overdraft currently 1012.19 - need to pay this off first due to the daily fees plus I still seem to pay 30 monthly fee! Need to check that out.
    * MBNA credit card currently 2083.42
    * Car finance last balance on statement in August this year was 9400.36 so 3 other payments since then will have left a balance of 8825.44.
    * Hubby's computer stuff 293.10 - I could save the full balance and pay off.

I'm aiming to pay off the overdraft, the credit card and hubby's computer stuff at least in 2018, plus I also want to get my ds bedroom finished and my bedroom decorated too.

On Tuesday I will get CB payment so this will be the last money that is need for dh to go on his trip next week, I also need to use any money between now and Xmas for presents so main focus on debt busting won't be until after the festive season. I will have a budget for each person I need to buy for plus I will be making some items to reduce costs.

Some good changes for the new year:
    * My repayments to HMRC for overpaid child tax credit ends in January, so an extra 10 a month back in the budget.
    * DS after school club sent home a letter to say their charges are going up from 9 a day to 10.50, after chatting to dh and dd we will pick him up from school between ourselves therefore saving 144 a month based on current fees. I will do a letter for him to take tomorrow to say we are stopping his place and then there will only be 3 weeks left to pay. This will be lots back in the budget!
    * I'm still waiting to hear if I've got an extra day fund through work, this will be lovely!

So my mission is to ensure that I use ynab properly and stick to budgets plus reduce food expenditure, continue doing surveys and use vouchers/money earned for birthdays and treats, reduce/re-use/recycle, and seek out the best offers/money back/discounts on all purchases.

Well a slow start to the week but positive so far, I have transferred 5 from receipt site to the overdraft savings and rounded up so now 20 in there plus I have done a food shop for the week based on a menu but I didn't spend 30 so couldn't use my voucher. It has quite a few days to use it so hopefully next time.

DS got me some fuchsias for Mother's Day and made a cake, DD had a lie in!

I have my session this evening and tomorrow with the younger kids so should be a bit more in the business account. I will try and arrange to see friend this week - must get this done!

Tshirts have not sold on fb so will put on ebay instead.

The credit card is doing my head in, that 3 is very annoying so will pay that off now to bring me into the 1900's! Now 1990 pounds to go.

    Happy Monday all, H x

Well I don't know what is wrong with me today, I'm generally optimistic and positive but today I feel down and frustrated at the mountain.

What makes it worse is that I'm in a better situation than a lot of people, I feel guilty for being down when I know it's our fault and we could improve it.

I try to have small goals, so aiming for 100 savings for the overdraft this month but it doesn't seem enough.

In good news dd passport is on it's way so another step closer to her trip being sorted.

Right let usual service continue, feeling better today a good sleep probably helped.

DD passport has arrived so I've completed all the paperwork details for her trip online, I will pay the final installment when I get paid on 25th.

18 added to overdraft savings from bank account bonus it's now at 38. I haven't done any surveys yet today but will do a few before I need to pop out to my next meeting.

    Hopefully back later H x

    Hi Huggle,

Every one has their low points, especially when finances are involved. So don't feel guilty about it. Glad that you are feeling a bit brighter today though xx

    Yay to DD's passport arriving

Good idea with the OD savings, you'll have 100 in there before you know it xx

Ooh it's gone so cold that I've had to put the heating on, my hands are freezing. At least we haven't got snow here but dh work had loads yesterday and he only works 20 mins away!

All finances are up to date, hated seeing the 150 going out for council tax today that's a big chunk but gas/elec payment has stayed the same.

Small purchases today but made with change in my purse, posted brother's birthday card, brought some milk and also brought some anti-histamines for ds as his exzema is really bad at the minute and his face so awful he looks ill with red patches across his eyes and mouth. Will try the tablets and his usual creams and if no better next week I'll take him back to the gp. He's had nearly a week off the hydrocortisone cream so can restart tomorrow.

Oops nearly forgot, email from Chief Exec yesterday we're getting a 2% pay rise from 1st April. Small wins yay!

Morning all, another busy weekend ahead and I've got an event on Sunday so I've been out to buy a few refreshments and need to put together some information leaflets for the people coming. Also volunteering tomorrow and Sunday before the event so getting all that ready.

I've managed to claim a small amount from survey site this morning which I've sent straight to the overdraft savings and rounded up, this is now at 45. I also claimed another voucher yesterday this brings that total up to 90 towards the first tent we need.

Kids have 1 more week at school then 2 weeks off, I'll work around this as I can work in the evenings when needed. I may rope them into helping with some decorating to keep them busy!

3 weeks until payday and then I can pay the last bit of dd trip and then when dh gets paid I will pay back his friend. I need another list because when they are paid I need to factor in spending money for dd trip, spending money and fuel for our break in July and also ds will need a whole new school uniform as moving up to high school. He's going to miss his last ever day at primary school and the disco as we will be going away the evening before.

Right need to hang up the washing, H x

Evening all, not a lot happening except dinner cooking as really tired from waking up about 0400 then needing to be up at 0650 for volunteering but it was a good morning.

Nothing to report financially except usual things paid for including kids lunch payments, survey money has been transferred from PP to bank account but I have already paid this to savings.

DH has started the transfer of my business website to a new host which will take 48 hours to update, I can then sort out all the details of the new venue and start sharing with schools. I'm meeting my friend on Thursday to go through the accounts.

Well edging ever nearer to pay day again, haven't been able to add to overdraft savings but finances up to date on ynab. Annoyingly I've had to order a new phone as my current phone crashes regularly and yesterday when I was lost on a run I decided enough was enough. I've been waiting in all day for new phone but no sight of it yet, in the mean time I've been catching up on emails for work, done some surveys, done a menu and shopping list and will go shopping as soon as phone arrives.

My last session at Monday venue was a no go with only one turning up again but he is coming down to the new sessions in June, website is ready to update as soon as I get the password from dh! Last session at other venue this evening before a break for Easter holidays.

The kids are excited about the Easter break, I told them we're stripping the wallpaper in my bedroom I will try and get them out for walks and picnics as much as possible, not much room for days out unfortunately but we do go down to the in-laws for m-i-l surprise birthday party on 26th.

Morning all, yesterday was a no go in terms of the phone, I called the company and they said that the delivery date was 26th April! I told them that I had an email stating the 9th and had been waiting in all day, they are going to refund my delivery charge but in the mean time I'm still with a dodgy phone. Delivery date is when we go away so will have to ask my parents to sign for it.

Went shopping yesterday and used voucher so have transferred the 5 saving to the overdraft fund, now half way there and my expenses when they're paid will complete the total. Food shop was a larger one than usual but have lots of fresh fruit and veg to use for the week.

I need to pay some money into my business account and for the next sessions I'm going to ask parents to sign if they pay in cash, one of them thought they had given me 70 to cover them until May half term but she had given me 45 to cover until yesterday!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, H x

Yay we have progress today, met with friend yesterday to go through business accounts and she said I was keeping them accurately and well. She also explained about a few things I need to do, the main thing is though I can actually draw some money from the income so to start things going from this financial year I have paid myself for an hour of coaching. I have a break now over Easter but will continue to do this from now on and it will all go to the overdraft pot.

I was also paid my expenses today so I have managed to send over 55 to the overdraft savings which now stands at 105 and still 2 weeks left to top it up.

This weekend is another busy one with volunteering in the morning and then need to finish my website, on Sunday I'm volunteering at two events with the bonus being that I will get a free race entry from the company which is great.

Kids break up in an hours time, they have a lie in on Saturdays and then they will help out on Sunday.

Off to a competition soon, not looking forward to the drive as the road will be really busy with Easter traffic!

Wow weekends are so busy, absolutely shattered yesterday after helping out at event. DH and the kids also helped too so we were one tired family!

It's 10 days until pay day and I'm trying to eek out every spare penny and bits of food to get there, I may have to temporarily move some overdraft money tomorrow as loan payment is going out but I will get child benefit next Tuesday. I have requested some survey and cashback money of around 10 to go into the coffers.

Unfortunately DH friend who he was going to Scotland with has been a complete d**k about some posts on FB in which DH had asked him to take away some comments that just weren't appropriate for his friends and some family, so now said friend has thrown a major hissy fit and said their friendship is over and DH is not going up to the race but we still need to pay him the money for the flight tickets! DH has been friends with him since they were kids, but he always treat DH like he's thick and hates it when he challenges his views, knowledge or anything else. DH is not thick! Friend is currently living in secret with a young lady in a big city away from his long term partner and putting young lady friend ahead of anything else. Right before I say too much change subject, just disappointed for DH as it's a race that's been on his list for years.

Business website has been updated and I have started sharing it, need to find some more places to share over in the other town and in local schools after the Easter break.

Kids had a chill out day today but I will get them moving tomorrow

I'm hoping that ex-friend manages to sell or cancel the flight in the next 2 weeks so we don't have to pay!

Took ds to see the children's nurse at the gp practice first thing this morning, she was great and we discussed his eczema and have some new creams and bath wash to try. DS is in the bath as we speak, as soon as she saw his eyes this morning she could tell it's really flared up. Prescription was free as we live in Wales so popped to the chemist to get them, then to Mr T for cat food and litter used a voucher so only cost a couple of pounds. We then popped to Iceland for milk as it's still the cheapest and finally to Lidl for loo roll. Back home before 0930 Scanned 3 receipts for today.

I've attempted to be frugal today but my bread making skills were not brilliant today and we have a rather flat loaf, still tastes good though. I've done a huge mound of ironing and prepared all the dinner before I went out to a meeting and dh had cooked it ready for when I got back.

Surveys have been really slow today, hardly anything at all.

Loan payment has gone out today but I can't update figures until tomorrow as the screen doesn't tell me the true balance until then. I will update percentage paid which will be very small, like it when the car payment goes out as that's a big chunk.

9 days until payday, family want a BBQ on Friday so will check if we already have charcoal etc and then suggest we only stick to a couple of things.

    Hope everyone ok, H x
